Who would be your audience for your media product?
Question 2 pp22
1. Question 2: How does your media product represent particular social groups?
2. The social groups that are represented in my music magazine are those of the age group 16-22, this means that they are social groups such as College students, and University students and also young apprentices and workers. My magazine supports ideas about the social groups that are featured in and around my magazine as it does not feature subjects that are either too childish or to grown up/serious in the magazine so I feel that it really appeals to this social audience.
3. My magazine represents music lovers with an individual/alternative rock style; therefore I have included many alternative rock bands and individual acts to star in my music magazine. The main image on the front cover of my magazine is a representation of the age range and social group that my target audience so here I have tried to make it clear to the target audience that the performer is just like they are.
4. The audience should be relaxed and laid back as that is the style of the magazine also this is the style of the acts that are featured in the magazine, I also feel that people of the age 16-22 and who are in these social groups, are very relaxed and laid back. The act on the front page’s facial expression suggests that she is calm and content; also it suggests that she is not too serious with her music/life which this age group of people are known for.
5. I have dressed the cover girl in clothes that are casual to represent the social groups relaxed nature. I also think that people who are not in the social group will pick up my magazine as they may see the names of alternative rock bands and acts that are on the cover and also they may just be a fan of the person that the main interview will feature on.
