Supreme Court Appoints New Leadership to Pennsylvania Continuing Legal Education Board
HARRISBURG — The Continuing Legal Education Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania
today announced the appointment of Allegheny County attorney Clifford B. Levine as board
chair and Murrel R. Walters III of Cumberland County as board vice-chair.
The appointments are effective on Dec. 31, 2018.
Created in 1992, the 10 member Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Board is an independent
agency under the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. The CLE Board is dedicated to helping lawyers
pursue their continuing legal education and meet annual CLE requirements. In addition to the
administration of CLE rules and regulations, the CLE Board places a heavy emphasis on
technology and compliance services.
Through the CLE Board’s website, www.pacle.org, lawyers can proactively monitor their CLE
transcript and browse through a listing of approved upcoming programs to find content
relevant to their interests and practice areas.
The CLE Board aims to do more than just regulate CLE – it wishes to promote quality
educational opportunities that foster highly competent and ethical lawyers in Pennsylvania.
Success in these endeavors will facilitate access to justice, client satisfaction and public respect
for the profession and judicial system.
Clifford B. Levine
Levine was first appointed as a member of the CLE Board in 2015 and named vice chair in May
of 2017. He has served on the administrative committee of the board for two years.
Levine is a director at Cohen & Grigsby, where he chairs the public affairs group and is a
member of the litigation and real estate practice groups. He has significant experience in
complex commercial, real estate and government-related litigation, including construction, land
use, environmental, energy, infrastructure and public election law. He also co-chairs the firm’s
appellate practice group and heads the cannabis trade group. His practice frequently involves
the interplay between law and government. He combines his extensive litigation and appellate
background, reflected in his membership with the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny
County, with his political and governmental skills, where he recently was recognized as one of
2. the 100 most politically influential individuals in Pennsylvania.
Murrel Walters III
Walters was appointed to the CLE Board in 2014 and reappointed in 2017. He has served as
treasurer of the board since 2016 and has served on the administrative committee of the board
for three years.
Since his admission to the Pennsylvania Bar in December 1976, Walters III has maintained his
practice in downtown Mechanicsburg. David R. Galloway joined him in January 2014 to start
Walters & Galloway PLLC. He has focused his practice on transactional law including estate
planning, estate administration, real estate transactions and business formation.
Walters is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Cumberland County Bar Association
and Cumberland County Inn of Court. He is admitted to practice in all Pennsylvania and Florida
courts and the United States Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.
