 Assisted in researching and drafting a motion for withdrawal of guilty plea for a new client suffering
collateral immigration consequences.
 Prepared an appellate brief to the Criminal Court of Appeals arguing that the mandatory nature of
implied consent DUI laws cannot effectuate voluntary consent to a blood draw.
 Researched and drafted appellate briefs to the Court of Appeals, Criminal Court of Appeals, and the
Tennessee Supreme Court. Also assisted in researching and drafting a Writ of Certiorari to the United
States Supreme Court.
 Competent in filing procedures in federal, civil, and criminal courts in Shelby County.
January 2016 – May 2016 – Law Offices of the Shelby County Public Defender - Legal Extern/Law Clerk
 Assigned to the Juvenile Defense Unit
 Primarily performed research tasks to assist attorneys in their representation of juvenile clients.
 Developed memorandum for attorneys to use in situations involving involuntary commitment of their
clients. Also researched application of criminal law principles to juvenile cases, primarily focused on
statements made by juveniles absent Miranda warnings or the presence of their parents.
January 2015 – May 2015 - Child and Family Litigation Clinic – Student Attorney
 Investigated and prepared dependency and neglect cases in a clinical setting overseen by a clinical
professor. Served as a Guardian ad Litem for children involved in dependency and neglect, custody, and
foster care proceedings in the Shelby County Juvenile Court.
May 2014- August 2014 City of Memphis - Legal Intern - City Attorney’s Office
 Assisted in the defense and settlement of personal injury claims against the City of Memphis brought
under the Government Tort Liability Act.
