I am a Personal Trainer in Edmonton. I believe in giving people all the information I can to properly educate them.
If a client is curious about what goes on in a personal training session then they can read my articles, presentations or watch my videos. This can help the potential client to prepare questions before they even meet me.
2. • These 9 principles are what a Personal Trainer
will be thinking about during a 1-on-1
consultation. I use these principles as the
foundation of your workout program to bring
you the most effective and efficient workout
for your needs.
3. FITT - Frequency, Intensity, Time and Type
• Trainers use this method to develop a workout
program. These variables help to separate a
beginner workout to a more advanced
workout and everything in between.
5. Specificity
• This principle means the workout must meet
the needs and goals of the client. For example,
• You want to run faster, then train running
faster.
• You want to get stronger, then lift heavy
weights.
• You want to lose weight, then increase
intensity.
6. Progressive overload
• Each workout, each day, each
week, you should continuously work
to challenge yourself and progress
forward.
7. Recovery
• This principle is mandatory for
progress. During recovery is when
your body repairs and adapts to the
stimulus of the workout.
8. Structural Tolerance
• The body will gain the ability to
sustain greater stress through
resistance training.
9. All-round development
• Each and every workout should include the 4
components of fitness.
1. Muscular Strength and Endurance
2. Cardiovascular Endurance
3. Flexibility
4. Body Composition
11. Maintenance
• “Hard to gain, easy to maintain.”
• Maybe the best principle, once you achieve
your goals, it will take less effort to maintain
your new body composition and fitness level.
