This presentation was designed to display at a parent night for a middle school. It is designed to display information about the various courses a student can take when beginning Middle School
2. ● Students will take Math, Science,
Social Studies and Reading.
● Pre-AP is offered in Math &
Reading.
3. ● 6th Grade Pre-AP math is required to continue on
to 7th Grade Pre-AP math and to Algebra 1 in 8th
grade.
● Students will cover 6th/7th/8th grade math
curriculum within their 6th and 7th grade years.
● Pre-AP Grading - 60% tests & 40% daily work as
opposed to 50% tests & 50% daily work in a
regular class.

Coach Mark Rector
Students will learn the fundamentals of a
wide range of sports. They will be required to
dress out daily, participate daily, and
produce results in a range of physical
activities including an introduction to weight
lifting. This course is highly recommended
for students interested in participating in
football, basketball, volleyball, soccer,
wrestling, track, cross country, or tennis in
7th grade, though it is not required.
Uniforms are purchased through the coaches
($20) & a physical is required for
participation in this course. Physicals will be
given in May 2019 for $20. Please watch the
district website for a specific date and
location. Otherwise please see a physician
for a physical. (Forms available on the

11. Alison Dodd
This is an introductory class to dance
styles and dance techniques. Students will
work out and participate in dance daily.
Students will be required to purchase a
uniform, more information will come from
Mrs. Dodd for those who register for the
course.

Beginning Band is offered to all 6th
graders. Knowledge of music or
instruments is not necessary - this will
be taught during the first year of band.
Students are taught in like-instrument
classes (flute players with only other
flute players.) As the year progresses, all
classes will combine and play concerts
at different locations.
There is no before or after school
practice in 6th grade band.
14. Lauren Escalante
This is the main 6th grade performance
choir. Students will participate in many
of the same concerts and competitions
as the 7th and 8th grade choirs.
In addition, students will be exposed to
music history, sight-reading, and part-
singing.
15. Middle school/high school readiness program (elective) designed
to help students develop the skills they will need to be successful
in secondary. The elective will place special emphasis on growing
study skills, critical thinking, team work, organization, and
academic skills.
16. This course is designed for students
with no previous guitar experience.
Students will receive guidance and
direction in solving problems
related to playing the guitar at a
beginning level and will learn many
of the different styles, skills, and
techniques required to become a
successful guitarist.

obtaining accurate information, developing
lifelong positive attitudes and behaviors, and
making wise decisions related to their
personal health.
18. Students will build on their existing
computer skills and gain proficiency
in various software applications. This
class helps prepare students to be in
technology classes in 7th & 8th
grade.

19. Heather Snider
Students learn to communicate in a
dramatic form, make artistic choices,
solve problems, build positive self-
concepts, and relate interpersonally in
theatrical experiences.
21. Please note that students have 7 class periods. We also have an
advisory time called Cub Academy, which is a built in time during 4th
period for tutoring, announcements, and club meetings.
22. ● Parent drop off / Pick up located on the side of the school by
the cafeteria.
Bus Drop-off / Pick Up is located in the front of the school.
● Tutoring offered Monday-Thursday 8:00 - 8:20am
● Lockers issued the first week of school.
● Supplies - Lists will be on the FSMS website
(www.misd.gs/domain/17)
● First Day supplies: Something to write with and a notebook.
Students may bring the rest of their supplies when lockers are
handed out.
