These striking photos show the full extent of the complex scaffold erected at Chatsworth in order to provide safe working access to the current phase of masonry
conservation & re-roofing works. The scheme of repairs includes carefully repointing and lime mortar repairs & stone indents as well as elements of re-roofing.
Clock returned to Lightwoods House
Lightwoods House took a step
back in time last week as the
pediment clock returned to
the front of the house fully
restored, gilded and in full
working order. The original
clock was installed between
1902 and 1903 following the
purchase of the park through
public subscription and gifted
to Birmingham City Council.
Messrs Swindon & Sons contributed the clock to Lightwoods
House as part of the improvements carried out, alongside the
addition of the bandstand, fountains and pathways.

As work progresses in the closed half of the
house we get our first exciting glimpses behind
the panelling. The early 17th century panels
can be seen here being carefully taken down
revealing the bare stone walls.
