There are many ways you can become involved in this project
Donations, legacies, volunteering and the giving of skills and time to the project
through “hands on” work or in fundraising events are all things that we would
welcome
By volunteering for an part of the Project, you can make a real difference.
The foundation of the project is the raising of the capital that can move it forwards.

18. Warmer, Brighter, Welcome
We will open up the beautiful Chapel of the Resurrection, designed by Comper and
also the Grounds for wider public use.
Works have already started on The Chapel and we are submitting a bid to the
Heritage Lottery Fund to support the project.
The buildings and their treasures will be made more welcoming with the installation
of new heating, sound and lighting systems.
19. Literature and Music Centre
A Literature and Music Centre will be created to celebrate our connections to
Shelley, Wollstonecraft and Parry.
20. Music and Arts
We will undertake a complete restoration of the historic world-class Organ built by
Willis and Harrison to build upon the musical tradition St Peter’s is famous
for.
We will also engage even more with key sectors in the community such as the

Part of this project will be
restoring the historic building,
its amazing Victorian heritage
and the beautiful fittings and
artwork.
We plan to renew the impressive
stonework and building fabric
and to restore the distinctive
wall paintings.
This work will require specialist
conservators and equipment, but will
safeguard the Grade 1 listed building
for generations to come and greatly
improve the ambience of the Church
for all those who visit.
22. The St Peter’s Church Development Project
The Church Development Project is an exciting programme that will be taking place
over the coming years by restoring the fantastic Victorian building.
Designed by Street and embellished by Burne-Jones and Bodley.
It seeks to welcome and encourage everyone to enjoy this very special place and to be
ready for many more years’ service as the Town’s Civic Church.
23. Community Café
A new café will also be created within the front of the Church in partnership with
Bournemouth & Poole College and Bournemouth University.
This facility will provide a splendid welcome and encourage greater use of the church for
community and artistic purposes.
