1. Landscape Survey Results
BetweenMondaythe 1st
andFridaythe 5th
DecemberIcarriedout a surveyonlineinordertogather
viewsandopinionsontenfinal editsof mylandscape photographs. Whilstatafirstglance the
responsesseemtobe fairlypositive, they’re afew negative pointsthatIagree with.
The firstquestion- ‘Doyoubelieve the followingimagesare capable of promotingthe SalfordQuays
ina positive light?’-allowedme todetermine whethermyimageswere asuccessinmeetingthe
brief outline.Thankfully,all tenrespondentsansweredyesmeaningthe imagesmetthe setout
criteria.
Of the tenrespondents, nine agreedthatthe photographswere framednicelywhilstonlyone
believedthatitvariedforeachimage.I believe thistobe verypositivesince well framedimages
usuallymeanthey’re appealingtothe eye whichiswhatI want. HoweverIdo personallyagree with
the one respondentinthatsome of the imagescouldhave beenframedbetter- particularlyimage

PersonallyIbelievemylandscape imagesto be of good qualityintermsof clarity, however
responseswere slightlymixed.Sevenpeopleagreedthattheywere,whilsttwobelieveditvariedfor
each image andone saidthat it couldbe improved. These responseshelpme determine thatif Iwas
to carry out the photoshootagain, creatingcrispimagesissomethingthatIcouldimprove on.
Of the tenresponses, everyoneagreedthatthe stylingof the images(editing) wasgoodwhichis

improvementandIdon’tlike it.Lookingback,I shouldhave askedwhytheybelievedthisinorderto
determine whatIcoulddodifferentlynexttime.FromthisquestionIcanconclude thatthe stylingof
the imagesmade the imagesappealing.
One of the mostdrastic changesI made duringeditingisthe colouringof the photos, therefore I
askedwhetherthe colouringusedaidedinpromotingthe Salfordquaysina positive way.Whilst
everyone agreedthe imageswere capable of promotingthisparticularlandscape, response forthis
questionwasagaina little varied. Sevenpeopleagreedthatthe colouringworkedwell,whilsttwo
believeditwastoovibrantandone saiditwas too dull.The responsesslightlycontradicteachother
makingita little hardertocome to a final conclusion, howeversince itwasa verysmall amountof
the responsesI’mhappywiththe result.Idobelievethatimagessevenandeightare toovibrant
whichissomethingIwouldchange if Iwas to re-editthe images- therefore Idoagree withthe
respondentsonsome level.
Questionsix allowedme todetermine whatpeople believe couldbe done toimprove the images.
WhilstI’mhappywiththe endresults, the imagesaimtopromote the Salfordquaystothe public,
therefore it’sthe publicthatknowwhatdoesand doesn’tappeal tothem.The answersforthis
particularquestionwere more variedthananyother, meaningIwouldhave alotto considerif Iwas
to carry it out again.Three of the respondentsagreedthat Icouldmake betteruse of the colouring-
thismay be the same three people fromthe previousquestionthatagreedthe imageswere too
vibrantand dull.Althoughnine peopleagreedinquestiontwothatthe imageswere framednicely
and onlyone disagreed, twopeople believethatthe framingof the imagescouldbe improved in

two.Althoughnine people agreedtheystyling(editing) of the imageswasgood,the resultsfrom
questionsix determine thatfourpeople believe itcouldbe improvedwhichisagainslightlydifferent
frommy initial findings. Finally, one personbelievedthatinordertoimprove myimagesIshould
take a differentstyle of photo.
The resultsare all fairlypositive andnow allow me todeterminewhatIcouldimprove onandwhat
the publicwantto see withinthe imagesinorderforthemtoappeal to them.
