• Provides a New Backpack, School Supplies and
(since 2013) a new book
• 418 Backpacks distributed between 2009-2014

8. Great Book Giveaways
• National Statistics:
– 61% of low-income families have no age-appropriate
books in their homes
– Fewer than half (48%) of young children in the US are read
to daily
• Purpose of the Great Book Giveaway is twofold:
– Giving books to children who otherwise might not have
books (or many books) of their own
– Educate parents on the importance of reading aloud to
their young children.
