Upcoming Courses: Analog IC Design, Battery Management and Control, Modelling and Simulation of Battery Dynamics.
Pondicherry University, Puducherry, India. 2014 - 2018
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
WORK EXPERIENCE
Intern – Research and Development, RRT Electro Power (P) Ltd, India. 2016– 2018
- Performed quality and stress tests and identified a PCB layout issue that caused losses in a windmill drive module.
- Implemented ‘Controlled Area Network’ (CAN) Protocol for communication between the EV and Charging Station.
- Assisted the Engineering Team in the design and development of a three-phase charging station with regular and fast
charging options for an Electric Vehicle (Mahindra Reva).
- Worked on PCB Design, component selection, generating Bill of Materials (BOM) and parts lists for DC-DC converters.
ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE
University Of Colorado Boulder 2018 – Present
Electrical Team – SOLAR DECATHLON (US DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY) – Leading the design and development of the
‘Building Monitoring System’ (BMS) responsible for monitoring the battery conditions, charging the battery with maximum
available power from solar panels and power supply to/from the grid for a self-sustaining house. Estimated completion – June 2020.
LED Driver Design Lab – Designing two 25 W Universal input LED Drivers with input specification ranging from 85-264 V and
50-60 Hz and 20 V DC Output - one with a current mode controlled PWM Chip and SiC MOSFET and another module with
MPS4027 LED Controller without secondary control circuitry to compare performance characteristics.
Standalone Photovoltaic System – Built a complete 85 W Photovoltaic system consisting of a buck converter with digital control
to achieve Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) to charge a 12 V battery, a boost converter (12V-200V) DC with analog control
circuitry and a true sine wave inverter (200 Vdc – 120 Vac) with digital control.
Design and modelling of EV drivetrains – Battery and controls using (SOC), DC-DC converter and AC drive. (With and without
synchronous motor field weakening) and Testing of EV drivetrains under different drive cycles – US06, UDDS, etc.
Pondicherry University 2014-2018
- Design and Simulation of an LLC Resonant Converter with an APFC Rectifier for a single-phase, onboard EV charger
application.
- Automated rain protection system for the cricket pitch. Involved a complex switching mechanism for both automatic and
manual control, forward and reverse operation of motor shafts.
- Worked extensively with Arduino boards for mini-projects such as quadcopters and line followers.
- Built a prototype of a manual (Pedal powered) washing machine which would be useful in remote areas without access to
uninterrupted electricity.
