3. Judas
Religiously controversial - almost a
PARODY of the bible story.
Gaga appropriates a biblical image to tell a story
of unrequited love, casting herself as Mary
Magdalene...
This in itself is postmodern,
as Judas and Mary Magdalene were never
involved = Illustrating Lady Gaga’s use of
Bricolage.

5. Telephone
Gaga’s Telephone video continues the narrative from her
last video for Paparazzi with costume choices,
particularly Beyonce’s glasses in the diner scene, and
the use of the same director and visual style make a
clear link to the Paparazzi video. Almost SELF
REFERENCING.
6. Telephone makes references to many things, such as
Beyonce and Lady Gaga’s ‘Thelma and Louise’ style
relationship
9. Product Placement
Within telephone Gaga
uses multiple product
placements. Unlike other
artists who may subtly
advertise the use of
certain brands. Gaga’s
post-modern approach
blatantly exaggerates
theirs presence.
10. The imitation of Michael
Jackson’s trademark shuffle
as Gaga breaks out from
prison…
15. Alejandro
Madonna’s ‘la Isla Bonita’ is very similar
to Gaga’s ‘Alejandro’ song. (Spanish
origin.)
16. Born this Way
This song sounds very similar to
Madonna’s ‘Express Yourself’
It has the same melody, ratio of
rapping to singing and backup
vocals.
17. Dress of meat references
The Beetles controversial
album cover
18. Gaga’s music can be accessed
from various places, such as;
We can’t own Lady Gaga’s music, we just get a copy...
often not even a physical copy.
This reflects the Post-modern world.
