1. Dear Students,
This document is related to the learnings of the Jamcracker Case (Discussed in Session 3). We had
a very detailed discussion on that case. Based on the inputs of the students and their continuous
involvement in the discussion, we could draw the following points:
1. Jamcracker provides students with an understanding of service delivery opportunities
created by the web, the challenges associated with seizing those opportunities, the
economic factors that drive the new models, and their similarities to and differences from
analogous models for physical products.
2. We discussed about the application service provider (ASP) and factors that drive their
emergence.
3. An introduction of digital supply chain and the difference with physical supply chain.
4. Gives students this understanding that the technology has the potential to vertically
disintegrate a digital supply chain, and that new business issues arise when this happens.
5. The case provides the understanding about the role of service integrators/aggregators and
the challenges they face in the distribution of services.
6. We also discussed about the concept of network effect and reliability of the system.
7. We also discussed about other services integrators/aggregators such as OLA, UBER,
Flipkart, Amazon etc. operating in other business domains.
8. We left the discussion at a point where we all can think of similar type of services
integrators in totally a new business domain. Just think!!
9. At the end of the session, we tried to understand the concept of Cloud Computing and we
found that this case is a good example to understand the cloud computing.

2. 10. We also discussed about the various cloud service delivery models such as Infrastructure
as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), software as a service (SaaS).
11. We also discussed about the various benefits and challenges of cloud computing model.
