This document discusses a project called JASPER that aims to preserve open access journals that do not have an existing preservation policy. It notes that about 7,000 journals in the Directory of Open Access Journals fall into this category. The project will use three archiving options - the PKP Private Network, CLOCKSS Dark Archive, and the Internet Archive - to preserve journals based on criteria like whether they use Open Journal Systems or provide detailed metadata to DOAJ. Next steps include surveying these journals, improving archiving tools and documentation, and applying for grants to expand the preservation efforts.
