8. Students if you are interested in being a youth court
volunteer, -pick up a application from Mr. Trice in the
Guidance Office.
Youth court volunteers will prosecute, defend and serve
as bailiffs and jurors in a real sentencing hearing of
juvenile offenders in Shelby County.
9. All National Honor Society Candidates:
You must submit all candidate forms and applications no
later than November 30, 2015.
10. Congratulations to the Overton Marching Band! Last
weekend the band competed in the West Memphis
Marching Invitational Contest. The band received a
superior rating and also won: 1st Place Percussion, 3rd
Place Color Guard, and 2nd Place Band. In addition Alex
White won 1st Place Drummer & Jeffrey Huddleston won
the outstanding soloist award. Congratulations to these
students for their hard work!!

15. On this past Saturday, hundreds of students auditioned for
the West Tennessee Junior High Honors Choir.
Congratulations to: Cameron Todd-Gary and Wynston
Turner for making this prestigious choir. They along with
Senior High Winners Jeremiah Young, Nicklaus Carter and
Arniece Ibezim will be performing in the West Tennessee
Honors Choir Concert on Saturday, November 21.
16. Key Club Members Ms. Smith would like to remind you
that you must get your dues paid immediately. Also, you
must attend meetings on the 1st and 4th Friday’s of each
month.

Congratulations Overton High Orchestra Students -
Journey Hogan, Jerald Walker and Kenneth Gillespie. Out
of 5,500 hopefuls they have been selected to travel and
perform at New York City’s Carnegie Hall (High School
Honor’s Performance Series). They have also won spots in
TN. All West & All State Orchestra.
18. Come out to see Overton’s Fall Musical “You’re a Good
Man, Charlie Brown”, running November 13th – 16th. Show
Times for the night shows are 7pm and Sunday is at
2:30pm. Tickets are $10. We will also have a special
Monday morning school day performance on November
16th at 8:30am in the auditorium. Tickets will be sold during
all lunches next week. For the school day performance,
you must buy your ticket before Friday, November 13th.

20. Overton and the HBCU Awareness Foundation will host an
HBCU College Recruiting Day in the OHS Gymnasium on
Tuesday, November 17 from 8:00am – 9:15am.
21. The P.O.W. Club will meet in Room 111 @ 2:30pm on
Tuesday, November 10. Club members will be signing up
to work at the concession stand on Friday and to pick up
canned goods from 1st period teachers. See Mrs. Mitchell
if you are in 8th hour and can’t make the meeting.
