• Climate policies alone are not sufficient if other
policies work in opposition to CC targets.
• Support communities with sustainable
livelihood options on peatlands (paludiculture
=use wet, non-wood products, fish etc.)
• Improved monitoring needed for multiple
benefits (not just carbon, socio-economic,
biodiversity etc.)
• Improve institutional coordination and capacity

• Peatland land-use policies should be evidence-based, and include land
suitability and societal cost-benefits, and be supported by harmonized
socio-economic policies through coordinated institutions.
