know that tobacco use is the leading cause of avoidable sickness and death in New Zealand? Together, smoking can hurt everyone who is introduced
to it, from babies to children, teenagers to adults, and even the elderly. Today I will convince YOU why you shouldn't smoke. I will also make you
more aware of the many negative affects it can have on you and the people around you. That is why I will be covering three main ideas which include
of: the many health problems that are caused because of smoking and why they can be permanent, smoking cause your appearance to alter and lastly
why it is not cost effective. So do you want your appearance, body and wallet to change?
Many health problems are caused because of smoking a can potentially be permanent. As you may know, cancer can be formed from frequent smoking.
Getting a cold, cough, wheezing and asthma are just the start of getting lung cancer as there are over 70 complimenting chemicals that cause this. Tar
is one of the many chemicals in tobacco. No, not the tar that you find on the road to seal up the stones! The one that contains 15 milligrams or more in
one cigarette. This weight is equivalent to having 15 paperclips. I know it doesn't seem like anything, but after smoking multiple packets a week,
but you can really notice the change in your health. And no, I DO NOT know this from personal experience. The tar that is used in tobacco, is there
to numb the wind pipe in the lungs; so when smoked no coughing is done as it is a natural reflex to cough when inhaling smoke. So basically, tar
contributes to lung cancer majorly. Did you know that ONE cigarette contains over 4,000 chemicals? This is without the other 400 added toxins as
well as the 70 cancer chemicals. Smoking damages the lining of your arteries, which leads up to a build of fatty material that narrows the artery.
Therefore, smoking clearly makes the risk of heart attacks and strokes higher. One puff travels around the body and into the brain within 10 seconds

likely to try illegal drugs after smoking, and the evidence came out with that people ages up 12 to 15 who smoked cigarettes are 44 more times

Smoking tobacco is known for being detrimental to a person's health. When you smoke a cigarette you are inhaling a toxic mix of chemicals including
formaldehyde, ammonia, arsenic and cyanide. Along with the inhaling of carcinogenic chemicals smokers also deal with nicotine addiction. Nicotine is
highly addictive and makes quitting very difficult for those who smoke. Many smokers continue to smoke knowing the harmful effects but, even worse,
some people willingly smoke while they are pregnant. Women who smoke during pregnancy create a very unhealthy environment for themselves and
their unborn child. Pregnant women who smoke should stop immediately to ensure the health of their child. Smoking while pregnant can lead to serious
health effects such as premature birth, birth defects and death. In the womb babies are extremely vulnerable to chemicals. The CDC states that "babies
have immature porous blood–brain barriers that allow greater chemical vulnerability to the developing brain." Babies also have far less chemical
bonding proteins than that of an adult allowing chemicals to reach organs easier. Doctors even advise mothers to avoid pumping gas, painting, using
hair dye and painting their nails while pregnant do to the chemicals in those products in fear of harming the baby. Women who smoke while pregnant
subject their child to over 4,000 different chemicals of which 43 are known to be carcinogenic compounds. This mixture of toxic chemicals is
hazardous to both the mother and the child's health. Any mother who cares for her child's health should do whatever it takes to quit smoking in order
to birth a healthy baby. Losing a child is a parents worst nightmare. For many parents, it is unpreventable, but, for mothers who lose their child
because they smoked during pregnancy it is completely preventable. Smoking while pregnant increases the chances of a miscarriage and death. The
Georgia state of public health reviewed death records from infants who died from SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) and estimated "20.7% of cases
could be prevented if the mother had not smoked during pregnancy." They also estimated "61.3% of SIDS cases were results of smoking." The baby

One of the aspects that are argued is the freedom of choice. Freedom of choice mandates if a person wants to smoke they should be able to. While
the freedom of choice issue is debated and measures are taken to assist people in breaking their addiction to smoking there are strong reasons for
implementing a nationwide ban on smoking in bars and restaurants. Smokers want to be able to enjoy a cigarette following their meal or while they sip
their drinks. They have lobbied to stop bans around the country and threatened to boycott any business that voluntarily places a ban on smoking in their
establishment.
For a long time, the hospitality industry maintained that if nonsmokers didn't like smoke, then they shouldn't go into places that allowed it. Few buy
that argument any more. Nonsmokers want to go where they want and not have to suffer exposure to smoke as the price they pay. TheTobacco Industry
fights smoke–free laws because smoke–free laws result in a decline in the consumption of tobacco products, an increase in the cessation rate among
smokers, and an overall decline in the social acceptability of smoking. This all spells bad news for tobacco industry profits according to the Americans

including hydrogen cyanide, carbon monoxide, and ammonia (2017). Among the 250 known harmful chemicals in tobacco smoke, at least 69 can
cause cancer. These cancer–causing chemicals include the following; arsenic was commonly used in rate poison and benzene is found in gasoline
(Martin, T., & Jelic, S. 2017). Smoking doesn't only harm the people that are directly smoking, but also the people around them. It's important that
smoker's realize that by smoking they are putting themselves and people around them at harm, like their children, wife, husbands, and other people. I
have a best friend that smokes cigarette, and he has been smoking since he was 18 years old. He knows that smoking is bad and that it causes cancer,

overlooking the "labeling act of 1965" http://www.fda.gov/opacom/laws/fplact.html which asks that a warning sign is placed at the back of all
tobacco products. People's lives have been lost over these false labeling and the consumption and exposure of these drugs. They are everywhere, for
instance, people at public places such as the park and the bus stops are exposed to second hand smoking, which is very deadly. This is unfair because
people have every right not to be exposed something that should be illegal. Although the government has tried to resolve these issues by passing laws
such as the Clean Indoor Air act, and the labeling act, the intensity of these laws are not good enough, the state of Washington for instance has a law
against smoking in restaurants, which is a good thing, but majority of the smoking is done outside of restaurants.
Smoking around children is one very disturbing thing, but it's a reality, the government has tried to put a stop to it inadequately as usual and not in
all areas of this country. The state of Texas has a rule regarding smoking around foster kids, this probably would help, but how can you be sure. The
best way is to get rid of the tobacco company
