Music: Why It’s Important.
By Bruce Wendell
2. Introduction
• Music. We all listen to it, albeit different styles
and genres of music. However, music is a
universal language (sans lyrics). It can reach
deep down and touch you right in the heart.
VERY FEW things have that kind of power,
namely love. Music is one of the most bonding
forces on this planet, it brings people together
and could potentially save the world.
3. See? See and hear how good live music brings people together in
large crowds? You will not find this phenomenon happen anywhere
else in the world.
4. Here is evidence of the magic of music really bringing thousands upon
thousands of people together in a large group mind of love and
happiness. Look at that audience; Love is real, not fade away!
5. The Beatles were a band who literally helped change the world
for the better with their music, they made people happy, and
they promoted peace, love, and truth, and their legacy as the #1
band of all time still stands today, 50+ years later.
6. Music makes people happy, as is evidenced in this video. The Beatles
were a group of kids who developed a passion for music, and shared
their passion with the world, and it clearly shows that the people are
grateful to have had The Beatles around, except for the kid who was
told what to say, for CBS’ agenda.
7. Another very important aspect to music, is, as David Crosby once said,
is the ability to be the “Town Crier”, being able to use your talent to
report on the state of the world, and revealing truth’s that are
otherwise suppressed by the powers-that-be. He also solidifies the
point about love through music which I have been trying to make clear
throughout this presentation in the video below.
8. Bob Dylan, and Bob Marley are two such “town criers”, who’s
lyrics spoke of truth, and essentially called out the worlds
flaws, and the people who create them.
9. Aside from the previous clips of modern musical phenomenon's, world
music goes way back thousands of years. Native Indian tribes used
music for spiritual ceremonies of all sorts. In the video below, we have
a modern day Indian ceremony, (it’s impossible to obtain video of
ancient times, as the technology was not available, or necessary in
those days.)
10. Here are pictures depicting ancient Indian tribal ceremonies in which
music was used as a backdrop, or guide for spiritual ceremonies.
Ayahuasca, or Peyote would be administered, Ganja would be smoked,
and the music would be played, for their purpose of attaining spiritual
enlightenment. The previous slides, containing video of Grateful Dead
concerts were similar to this concept, of psychedelics and music to
achieve spiritual enlightenment. Peace and Love are eternal, and the
spirit shall never die. It will continue as long as there are people living.
11. However, the most important reason that music is essential to
our lives, is that it makes us really feel our emotions, in a
numbed-down world where we just go through the motions
just to get through the pains of this world, music is the one
medium that reminds us of our human emotions, reminds us
that we are human, and that its ok to feel. Music achieves
things that nothing else in this world can achieve.
