1. Music Group We have been investigating how music influences the way we think and express ourselves.
2. How does music influence people and their lives? Another example is Live Aid. It was a huge fundraising charity concert that happened twenty years ago. It was organized by Bob Geldof in 1985 to raise funds for the Ethiopian Famine. It was probably the biggest event that united the whole world!!
3. What makes songs popular? Good lyrics, catchy tune, outstanding singing, bold, clear voice . . . and well-structured sounds . . . If the song has a STRONG message that is really important in life and to think about. For example Michael Jackson’s Heal the World moved many people to tears because of that really strong message. A good song may also be based on the singer or songwriter’s real life experience, like Scott and Kevin from Australiawho performed at BHS – their song was called ‘All I am’. It describes how Scott felt when his wife was mad.
4. How does music influence people and their lives? Interesting how it’s always music playing in the background of a movie often MAKES the audience weep. You try watch a film without music. Really, do! That would be boring!! Similarly, people might play music to help them relax after a hard day’s work. The Beatles’ music hugely influenced people’s lives. People wanted to be like the Beatles, so they dressed like them and made their hair the same as them.
5. How do you express yourself through music? If you are happy, play Lively on the piano or take over pop violin. If you’re feeling dark and blue and ever so gloomy, maybe you’d like to play Andante on the piano or violin in a slow speed. It all depends on using completely different instruments, articulations, dynamics, tempos . . .
