To Whom It May Concern:
I am happy to be writing this letter of reference for a wonderful teacher and a very spiritual individual,
Brian Ouellette. I taught with Brian for five years at Saint Monica School, serving as his mentor when
he first came to Saint Monica and, ultimately, handing over the reigns as Middle School Coordinator to
Brian when I took the position of Curriculum Coordinator. I have watched Brian successfully engage
his students and effectively lead his fellow teachers for several years.
Brian is a gifted religion / theology teacher. He is well-qualified and has a broad knowledge of scripture
and Catholic Doctrine. Brian conveys the subject matter to his students in ways that they not only grasp
the material, but they look forward to learning more and to continuing their studies. Brian conducted
several retreats for the staff during my time at Saint Monica. I so enjoyed our experience that I have
since invited him to come to Saint Paul to conduct a retreat for the faculty and staff here. He was so
engaging that the staff have asked repeatedly to have him come back to speak with us again.
Brian is also a fantastic history teacher. He makes history come to life for his students, teaching with
anecdotes and stories to help his students truly connect with the material. Brian’s students love to go to
class and are reluctant to leave at the end of the day.
Brian, with his background in Catholic School Leadership and Administration, is a team player. He
understands the dynamics of education from multiple perspectives, and is a wonderful resource and
sounding board for his colleagues. Brian brings with him years of experience and a ready wit, to make
long days, shorter and tough days, easier.
I highly recommend Brian for a teaching position. I am confident that Mr. Ouellette is the type of
teacher who will have no difficulty engaging and educating students on a daily basis. Please do not
