This document provides information about an organization called His Kids Too and proposed changes to their website. His Kids Too is a faith-based nonprofit that originally provided assistance to homeless children locally and abroad, but has shifted focus to help families and children from Ukraine due to the Russian invasion in 2022. The purpose of the organization's website is to persuade users to donate by sharing updates, testimonials, and multimedia about the people they help. The document notes critiques of the original website including disorganized content, large blocks of text, grammatical errors, and an outdated design. 2. His Kids Too
Overview:
His Kids Too is a faith-based non-profit organization that
was created to provide food, shelter, and other needs to
children with no homes locally and in developing countries
around the globe. Now, the organization has shifted its
focus to provide care and supplies to families and children
from the country of Ukraine due to the Russian Invasion in
2022.
Purpose of Site:
To persuade users into donating to the organization for
assistance by utilizing relevant news updates from
Ukraine, testimonials from volunteers and refugees, and
multimedia to highlight positive moments and people that
they help.

3. Critiques and Changes
What we noted:
a. Layout and design
i. Content on main homepage was
disorganized and difficult to follow.
ii. Headers and bodies of text are not
properly spaced or broken up, leaving
large walls of text that are not
properly stylized or separated into
sections.
b. Grammatical errors and font style
i. The site is riddled with typos,
grammatical errors, and
strikethroughs of assumably
irrelevant information.
ii. Website design uses large fonts and
vibrant colors to identify calls of
action for the reader, but this also
breaks up the flow and design and
looks rather unsightly.
What we changed:
a. Make content brief, organized, and
readable.
b. Update the navigation bar to update and
remove sections.
c. Add a donation and/or login button at
the navigational bar as a call to action.
d. Reorganize pictures and layout structure
to make it concise and readable.
e. Remove the search option.
f. Create a color scheme to make the site
stand out.

5. Persona 1 - Elizabeth Johnson
Occupation: Religious Group Leader & History Teacher
User goals:
● Research the mission of the organization.
● Navigate to the “How to be a Sponsor” page to receive information
● Go to the contact page to contact the directors regarding any extra questions she has.
● Navigate the current needs to collect items to donate.
Brief Scenario:
Elizabeth has recently heard of the organization His Kids Too through a friend and she really likes the mission and
cause of this organization. As a church group leader for children, she wants to demonstrate the importance of giving
back. As the group leader Elizabeth goes on the site to learn more about their organization and stories from other
volunteers. She quickly realized when reading the stories and testimonials there was no recent information because
it was all outdated from a couple of years ago. Elizabeth is motivated to use the site because she wants to give back
by raising money with her church group for the Kids

Occupation: Former accountant - Retired
User goals:
● Read up on events and trips being hosted by the organization in the Opportunities section
● Navigate to the Volunteers subsection and click “Apply Today”
● Go to the Volunteer Application form and begin filling it out
Brief Scenario:
Edith Anderson lives in Tallahassee, Florida with her husband of 36 years. Even though she’s retired, Edith occupies
her time by babysitting her 3 grandchildren, attending weekly Sunday services at Central Avenue Protestant Church.
With a soft spot for children, Edith wishes to give back to her community by becoming a volunteer to any
organization that supports children or families in need. After browsing through Facebook to read about the events in
Ukraine, she stumbled upon His Kids Too’s page and was immediately interested in what they had to offer.

Brief Scenario:
Charlotte is looking for stories of affected groups and the help they have received from the HisKidsToo!
organization. She starts on the homepage to learn more about how the organization runs, since this isn't the first time
she visited the site, she is mainly looking for new information. From there she finds a story she is interested in and
follows the link to the Stories/Testimonies page. After reading some of the stories, she finds one that interests her
and that she will include in her news article. These are just a few steps journalists take to find information on an
organization they are reporting on.

Brief Scenario: John Smith’s wife has come home from her church group on Sunday to find
John on the couch. She informs John of a new charity that has been helping people in need
in both Tallahassee and Ukraine. This piques John’s interest because not only has he been
hearing about the Russian and Ukraine war on the news, but the charity that he frequently
works with has started to slow down with opportunities for him to help. John decides to
check the website where he learns about the charity, how the charity is assisting others,
and ways that he can help assist their goals. John decides tomorrow that he is going to
send the charity an email inquiring about what the charity has planned for the future.
