4. Slowest moving marine fish
• The slowest moving marine fish are the sea horses
(family Syngnathidae) of which there are just over
30 species.
• Some of the smaller species such as the dwarf sea
horse (Hippocampus zosterae), which reaches a
maximum length of only 4.2 cm (1.7 in), probably
never attain speeds of more than 0.016 km/h
(0.001 mph).
• Sea horses are incapable of swimming against the
current and, to avoid being swept away, hang on to
coral and marine plants with their prehensile tails.
6. Smallest Fish in the World
• The smallest known fish in the world, the Photocorynus spiniceps, is a type of angler fish.
The males, which are parasitic and attach themselves to the female, are only 6.2 millimeters
long.
• A tiny relative of the carp, the female Paedocypris progenetica has a length of 7.9-
millimeters. These fish are found living in the peat of one small swamp in Indonesia that is
100 times more acidic than acid rain!
• Native to Borneo, Chili Rasboras are very popular aquarium and nano aquarium fish because
of their bright, intense coloring, and small size.

some particular life stages: marine
Amphidromy eg:Flat head mullets spawns
in indian seas during autumn and early
winter and young stage spend a short
period in brackish water and freshwater.
