3. NARRATIVE IDEAS AND THEMES
• Lost and Lonely
My main character feels out of place and is
depressed, thinking about suicide, as committing
suicide is the biggest sin you can commit in
Christianity.
This idea can be carried out with having harsh
imagery like nooses and tightly framed shots to
depict him as being trapped.
I could also include a reason why he seems so out
of place e.g. bullying, sexuality, faith.
• Out of Control
My main character has gone off the rails and are
committing crimes and sneaking out of the house.
The climax of this narrative being him getting
‘arrested’ by using red and blue lights I can create
the idea that the police are there without having to
show them.
At the end the character is looking at themselves
wondering what happened and deciding what he
wants to do with his life.
Both these narratives have quite religious themes and rotate around the idea of Sinning or being in the
wrong, linking with the song Blasphemy, as that means to Sin.
4. PERFORMANCE IDEAS AND THEMES
I will drop in a few shots that relate to the Christian religion in order to link with the lyrics of the song. E.g.
Close ups on a cross necklace and candles. I will also include a full band shot where the main singer opens
his arms out for a split second to suggest him being Jesus, “Don’t preach to me”.
I will include animalistic shots that link to the rock genre, to do this I will take inspiration form Roar by Katy
Perry and show each band members inner ‘spirit animal’. This linking to the bands gimmick and with be
carried over to my poster and digipack.
Finally like in my preliminary task I will assign each member a colour and have it included in each shot that
includes them, this making it easier to differentiate between the narrative and performance as it will
include different forms of lighting.
