1. Music Genre.
A music genre is a conventional category that
identifies pieces of music as belonging to a set of
conventions, ideas and traditions such as; ‘‘pop’’,
‘‘rock’’, ‘‘rap’’, ‘’indie’’. Each of these genres has their
individual trends, which evolve over time. Each genre
is distinguished from musical form and musical style;
however, in practice these terms are sometimes used
interchangeably.
The genre of a song is a key concept as it is necessary
to establish this in order to help you when producing
a music video. In this project I need to pick a song
belonging to a particular genre of music and then I
will go on to produce the music video for my chosen
song, according to the genres specific conventions.
Sub-Genre.
Many of the music genres can be broken down
further, which identifies more specific conventions of
that particular genre, going into further detail.
