2. Instagram Analytics
I researched some
Instagram analytics based
on age and gender. 18 – 34
is the main group that is on
Instagram, and this is good
for me because my target
audience includes a
younger group, to try and
educate them on Mods.
I also looked on Instagram for accounts that post content similar to
what I'm creating, I looked at how their photos were laid out and what
they show, e.g. clothing, locations and music.
3. Facebook Analytics
I also did some research on Facebook,
and their site is a lot more male
oriented, so if there was a company that
needed to do advertising for something
such as an electric razor (or anything
more popular with men) This is a good
place to do it, this doesn’t really effect
me as I am trying to include both
genders.
Facebook pages on mods and rockers are much more for a communal
audience, instead of advertising, anyone can join these groups and read
information that people have uploaded, which could be stories from when
they were a mod, or even people asking questions about the subculture.
4. YouTube Presentation
• A great place to put my work where I can get feedback is YouTube, this is because anyone with access is
available to view the site, and they can leave feedback in the comment section of the video, meaning that
over time my work will improve and gain more popularity.
There is already a great number of videos
based on the mods and rockers, these
include films, tv programmes and
documentaries. This is great for anyone
learning about the mods and rockers
because there is so much information there
for them to find out.
This graph shows that in the UK, people
aged from 18-34 make up for 60% of users,
which is really good for me as this is the age
of my target audience.
5. TikTok Presentation
• TikTok is an app that has recently become very famous amongst young people, on the app
you will be shown short, clips of different things every time you scroll, I think there are some
benefits of using this app myself to showcase my work.
• 25% of TikTok users are aged 10-19, which would be a good way for me to get new people
interested in the subculture and learn more about it. If I was to post some clips of my
projects on the app, people may be interested and go and learn more on their own accord.
• The main problem with using TikTok as an outlet to present my work is that I wouldn’t get
much feedback, people in the comments would most likely speak about the video, not what
could be improved about it
• Another challenge I think I would face is the length of the clips, as they can only be maximum
60 seconds long, I can't fit that much information in at once and it may not convey the vast
amount of information there is to learn about the mods in the 1960s.
6. My Presentation
I decided to create my own Instagram account for my project, the
account is called @mods.androckers, by giving it a username like this
people might come across the page simply by searching key words
into the search bar.
If people were to come across the account, they could be interested in
learning more about the mods and the subculture, maybe things that I
haven't covered in my own video. Such as more specific clothing and
other locations.
A problem that I could face here is that people are not on the app to
watch documentaries, they are there to look at photos, so I would
need to think of a way to make them interesting enough that the user
would be inclined to click a link to my video.
Overall Instagram is a good way to reach new people, but in terms of
feedback, it probably isn't the best site.
7. My Presentation
I have also uploaded my entire video onto YouTube,
this means that I can send the link to people who are
interested, and they will be able to view the whole
video, if they would like to give any feedback, they
can also do that here.
A good way of promoting the video would be to share
the links with Facebook groups which focus on the
mods and rockers. YouTube is the most popular place
to watch videos that are longer, and as my video is
under 5 mins, it is likely that people will watch the
whole thing.
