operates as a subudiary of Paris-based
French media conglomerate Viendi.
It is the largest music corporation in the
world.
Its origins go back to the formation of the
American branch of Decca records in
September 1934.
The present organization was formed
when its parent company Seagram
Purchased PolyGram in May 1998 and
merged it with Universal Music group in
early 1999.

9. Comparison between an Independent Label
Company and a Major Label Company
As a major there is a lot more chance that the
distribution, marketing and talent is better and also
to a mass audience targeting a lot more people that
an Independent Label company.
On the other hand Independent companies are more
unique and creative which could potentially target a
very niche market but however be very popular
within this market. They also find new talent which
could potentially become very popular and make a
lot of money for the company.
10. Which one I would I prefer?
Although me and my group haven't made a final
decision on which song were doing yet I think that
going with a Major Label Company like Universal
Music Group would be more beneficial for us as it
would get more attention and more audience. I also
think that the style and image that major label
companies have is similar to the kind of music we are
looking at to produce our video to.
