This document discusses the history of politics and key political events in India from 1980 to 2014. It covers major political scandals and estimates the total financial losses from various scams over the years. It also analyzes election data on candidates with criminal charges and large increases in wealth. Finally, it proposes several reforms such as holding candidates accountable to their election manifestos, restricting candidates facing serious criminal charges, and verifying sources of abnormal wealth increases in politicians. The overall document aims to educate about the impact of politics in India while suggesting ways to improve the system.
2. What is politics?
Man is by nature a political animal.
AR I S TOT L E
Politics is exciting because people disagree.
They disagree about how they should live.
Who should get what?
How should power and other resources be distributed?
Should society be based on cooperation or conflict?
How should collective decisions be made?
Who should have a say?
How much influence should each person have?
“It is always a dialogue, and never a monologue”
