Ian Anstice gave a presentation to the Axiell European User Conference about the challenges facing public libraries. He discussed the dramatic changes in availability of information online and reductions in library budgets and usage. Libraries have responded by promoting a wide range of services but risk trying to do too much and losing their core focus. Anstice argues that libraries should focus on having a clear, simple message about providing equal access to information for all.

“Keep up the good work, your blog is hugely valuable. I think
libraries, like playing fields, long suffered from always being a
local fight, without anyone talking about the national picture.”
Jane Mackenzie, Reporter, Private Eye (October 2013).
