The Henderson Memorial Public Library, established in 1883 and supported by the community since 1980, seeks additional funding through a proposed tax levy to maintain and enhance its services. The request includes replacing a 0.5 mill levy with a 1.5 mill levy, costing homeowners with a $100,000 home approximately $12.50 per month. This funding will allow for extended operating hours and resource access, including over 10 million items through the Clevnet consortium.

- 12. What are weasking for? Proposed Tax Levy (Replacement and Increase) Jefferson Township (Including Village of Jefferson) Henderson Memorial Public Library A majority affirmative vote is necessary for passage. A replacement of 0.5 mill of an existing levy and an increase of 1 mill, to constitute a tax for the benefit of Henderson Memorial Public Library for the purpose of current operating expenses at a rate not exceeding 1.5 mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to $0.15 for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for 5 years, commencing in 2016, first due in calendar year 2017.
- 13. What does thismean? We want to replace our .5 mill levy with a 1.5 mill levy. .5 mill = $55,000 1.5 mill = $142,161
- 14. How Much? This willcost a homeowner with a $100,000 valued home about .41¢ a day, or about $12.50 per month. This is less than the cost of buying one new DVD or buying one new book!
