- Hello everyone, my name is Mark Sage and I’m the Executive Director of the AREA. The only global membership funded alliance, helping to accelerate the adoption of Enterprise Augmented Reality (AR) by creating a comprehensive ecosystem. Its really exciting to be here at the AWE event, today I will talk about the current status of the Enterprise AR ecosystem and what the AREA and its members are doing to improve and increase its awareness
- So what is the AREA doing to help create / support a comprehensive ecosystem? Let explain who, what and why the AREA is needed Read slide Created for - innovative companies aspiring to invest in Augmented Reality (AR) technology Who need - a better understanding of the tools available, application possibilities, methods of implementation and return on investment And want - an opportunity to learn, co-innovate and build partnerships aspiring for the long term adoption of AR technology The AREA provides - a free and open exchange of good practice, lessons learned and technological insights
- Thought Leadership Information Portal - All the latest news, blog articles, thought leading content, events, uses cases and white papers regarding AR for the Enterprise from a neutral source – your one stop shop – being updated as we speak Thought Leadership Neutral Content – Access for members to the latest insight and content which can be used in discussion with potential customers, help develop strategies and create a competitive edge Networking & Marketplace Membership Community - Opportunity to meet other organisations involved in AR through virtual and face to face meetings Area and Industry Events- A listing of all the AREA and many of the industry events on a month by month basis as well as discounts and speaking opportunities Market place – in development – a tool for enterprises to search on business problems / use cases and will return technologies needed and AREA provider member services Research Member Defined Research Projects – Opportunity to propose research projects to further AR innovation and market understanding. - So to summarise the situation, we are currently in (what I’m calling) an “irregular” ecosystem The irregular ecosystem characteristics include: There is uncertainty in the areas to invest Providers unable to find customers Technology readiness is unclear Best use cases still being defined Efficiencies difficult to achieve Developing ecosystem Clarity provided on best practice Best tools for purpose Language being shared Greatest efficiency impact Key business decision makers being involved Maturing ecosystem Working standards defined Economy of scale Mature solutions Innovation slows Small efficiencies gained
