4. SALIVARY GLAND
Saliva is mainly produced
by three pairs of salivary
glands.
Parotid gland (on lower jaw)
Sub-maxillary /Sub-
mandibular(on lower jaw)
Sub lingual gland(below tongue)
6. Saliva contains
Mucus – helps in lubrication.
Lysozyme – act as an anti bacterial
agent
Salivary amylase – converts starch to
maltose.
Electrolyte(Na+., K+ ,cl- ,HCo3 ) – For
maintain the slightly acidic pH of
saliva(6.8) /act as buffer.
7. LIVER
Largest gland in human body
Liver has two lobes.
Liver cell – Hepatic cell
The two lobes of liver are called hepatic
lobules.
8.
9. Hepatic lobules are the structural and
functional unit of liver.
Each lobule is formed of hepatic cells.
Bile is secreted by hepatic cells.
Bile is stored in gall bladder.
10. PANCREAS
Second largest glands.
Heterocrine gland
Secrete pancreatic juice
Opens into the duodenum along with the
bile duct.
11. The bile duct and pancreatic duct open
together into the duodenum as the
common hepato pancreatic duct which is
guarded by a Sphincter called Sphincter
of Oddi.
