student must demonstrate a disability in one of 13 specific categories, including autism,

behavioral disability, intellectual disability, speech and language disability, deaf-blind, visual
impairment, hearing impairment, orthopedic or physical impairment, other health impaired
(including attention deficit disorder), multiple disabilities and traumatic brain injury. Depending on
the students' individual needs, they may be included, mainstreamed, or placed in a special school,
and/or may receive many specialized services in separate classrooms. In addition to academic
goals, the goals may address self-care, social skills, physical, speech, and vocational training.

(CTE)
CTE IN HIGH SCHOOL
• CTE classes in high school are a course in 16 different tracks of the profession, and are
provided to get the deep knowledge of all of these tracks. Any student who is interested
in getting enrolled in this course can take admission in it when they are in high school.
• These tracks of CTE are for those students who are in middle school, high school, or
secondary school.
• If a high school student takes a sequence of two or more than two CTE courses then this
is called the CTE pathways. These Pathways are designed in a way that connects high
school classes to college, industry certifications
• CTE offers a competency-based curriculum at both the middle and high school
programs
• Almost all public schools – 98% – offered CTE programs to high school
• Two sequential concentration CTE courses fulfill the elective requirements for
graduation
• COMMUNITY/ JUNIOR COLLEGE
– 2 years study- lecture based class & emphasis on practical skill- receives associate degree ( gets a
job)
- transfer immediately to 3rd year university (GPA 3.5)- mid-level university only

• MILITARY PROGRAMS
active-duty Soldiers can receive specialized job training at participating community colleges and
technical schools through the Army Vocational/Technical Soldier Program. AVOTEC is a short-term pilot
program intended to provide training in high-demand career fields to help Soldiers find employment
after they transition out of the Army. Soldiers, officers and wounded warriors serving on active duty,
including National Guard and Reserve Soldiers on extended active duty. offering occupational training

8 month-2 years-Hands-on training in specialized area-do not include general courses-emphasis on
practical learning-offers associate's bachelor's degrees(certificates,diploma)-also require students to
complete some kind of apprenticeship where they work with a professional in their chosen field to learn
more about the occupation by doing the job.
