Editor's Notes
I am a Business Management major with experience in creating a business plan and with implementing common business practices. I have created a company call Viva Fresh, which will help provide healthy, organic foods at convenient ready to go locations. The main goal is to provide a place for those with various health conditions to have a place to go to grab delicious foods within their diet restrictions. This is a passion of mine due to having my gallbladder removed recently and developing IBS from it. There are not many places with low fat and gluten free choices that are necessary to my diet.
I am a Business Management major with experience in the basics needed to run a company. I know how to review financial statements and how to relate them to daily business functions. I am able to create a business model and apply basic business principles within the industry. I also am experienced in business communications, an example of this is through business proposals.
I have a background in the business sector in fraud and banking. This will help me in understanding the company’s financial state and in managing money. I will also be able to tell if things aren’t adding up in the company and research potential fraud happening. This has also helped me in learning to analyze data and networking. It is important to be able to focus on what is needed to start the company and not get hung up on one issue. In order to gain partners or investors it is important to know the right people, or know how to find them. If there is an issue which one does not know the proper skills to resolve, networking can allow one to find the answers through using other people as resources.
I have a willingness to seek new opportunities. This is very important as an entrepreneur, since creating new business ideas is doing just that. Wanting to continue to seek new opportunities will help me to identify when a good opportunity presents itself when starting a new business, and potential business opportunities for the future.
I also work with urgency with a focus of my long-term goals. This was especially evident when I worked as a Loss Prevention Specialist. We had many deadlines each day to complete but also had to reduce our case load on other tasks that didn’t have deadlines. Lastly a skill that I have gained is the ability to execute. Entrepreneurs must be able to perform and get results. In Loss Prevention we would have to execute to get results and meet deadlines. Sometimes there could be factors that would take forever, just like an entrepreneur, we would have to move on instead of beating the issue.
The goal for the company is to reach those with health issues that require specialized diets and those wanting to eat healthier nutritious meals.. The target age groups would be the millennial generation due to them being focused on organic foods and adults around 40 and above that tend to have growing health concerns. There is a real need to have a place to go for convenient food in today’s fast paced society that meets various health needs.
The initial goal for the first year would be to make the company profitable, which we would need to reach $50,000 in profits. The goal for the second year would be to double our profits for the year before. This should happen due to customer basis increasing and brand acknowledgement. Survey’s among local colleges will have at least 40% having at least tried our food by the second year and 60% of them stating they have frequent ate at the restaurant by the third year.
I would create the first shop in Columbus, Ohio. A reason for this is that Columbus is the place many startups create their restaurants to test if it will be successful. It is a mecca that has all kinds of people and many business people that travel here. It is very important that staff is friendly, upbeat and knowledgeable. Customers are going to have questions regarding what foods are okay for various conditions and it is important to be understanding and informative. Like many other restaurants we would accept cash, check or credit card. Organic food is expensive, but we would offer affordable organic food where even middle class families could afford to eat.
The general demographic of customers are millennials, so the best ways to reach them would be through social media. Using Facebook, Twitter and Instagram will show our customers we are in their area and what we provide. Having a common hash tag where everyone can show their meals and what health benefits it can provide will get the word out. Also local advertising at colleges and local gyms can get the target audience to stop by and starting talking. With the original start up being in Columbus, focusing on Ohio State, Capital and Columbus State would get a huge chuck of the local market interesting in the company to stop by and try it out. Providing coupons and discounts to students would also encourage them to eat, and help us to provide excellent customer service. The advantages of this kind of marketing include getting students to try out the market. It would be an online platform that the customers would be key in growing. Social media is a way to get advertising out there quickly that can spread to the masses. Negative feedback would travel fast and could hurt the business, so it is important to make customers the focus on our industry to keep people coming back.
Need 4 full time employees to start initially for a second shift position with room for 2 part-time employees and myself. This should allow the company to operate 11am-8pm to serve lunch and dinner crowd initially. These numbers are high compared to other companies but want to be prepared for higher amounts in some areas to prevent unexpected surprises. Also plan to rent a location that was a restaurant with kitchen equipment available. This should reduce costs for equipment and supplies. Rounded up the number to give a larger safety amount. Initial start from self should be 200,000 which is similar for buying a house with larger income than current.
I will be needing a capital of $350,000.00 as an initial set up fee, followed by $100,000.00 every year for the next 5 years in order to allow planned growth within the company. I have already invested 200,000 of my personal funds to the company. I am also willing to provide you 30% share of the company for the next 20 years for your funding and mentorship. I have business management experience and have already conducted a thoroughly researched business plan.
