About Our Staff
The Therapeutic Recreation departments located
at both Allentown and Fountain Hill take pride in
offering a wide variety of both independent and
group activities for the residents. The
TherapeuticRecreation staff implements
physical, cognitive, psychosocial and spiritualto
meet the needs and interests of each resident. TR
works closely with the interdisciplinary team to
enhance quality of life through therapeutic
activities and leisure education.It is encouraged
that family members attend recreational
programs. A list of recreational programs offered
can be found in either the Sunshine News or
Hillside News monthly.
Responsibilities of
Therapeutic Recreation
Department
 Create treatment plans and programs
that meet the resident’s needs and
interests.
 Engage residents in therapeutic
activities,such as exercise,games,
and community outings.
 Assess resident’s needs through
observations,medical records,tests,
and discussionswith other healthcare
professionals,residents’families,and
residents.
 Teach residents about ways to cope
with stress,anxiety, or depression
 Help residents learn social skills
needed to become or remain
independent.
 Evaluate interventions for
effectiveness.
 Record and analyzea resident’s
progress
(BLS, 2015).
