2. Masthead
The masthead is
the most
distinguishable
text on the cover
page, in bold
letters, and
shows the title of
the magazine.
3. Main Cover Story
A brief line that tells
the reader about the
main story in the
magazine
4. Taglines
Bits of
information that
will attract the
reader into
wanting to
purchase this
magazine. Words
like ”revealed“
make the reader
want to purchase
it more due to a
feeling of
exclusivity
created between
the customer
and product.
The taglines obviously release information that a
specific target audience will be interested in, in this
case, guitarists.
5. Another offer that would make
the demographic want to
purchase this magazine even
more, a segment that each issue
contains, where guitarists can
learn popular songs off of the
magazine.
8. Main Cover Story
The main cover story
for this issue has a
bold heading so that it
may stand out, and
the description is
highlighted in black,
so that it may attract
attention, and may
resemble the
Masthead.
9. Taglines
The taglines
provide insight
into the articles of
the magazine,
however not
dispensing
enough
information, since
that will attract
the reader to
purchase the
magazine.
The headings of
the taglines are
written in colors
that catch the
readers
attention.
10. Cover Photo
The cover photo has
been shot through
the point of view of
the Male Gaze, to
attract more male
customers to
purchase this issue
of the magazine. The
model in the cover
photo is wearing
clothes that fit well
with the color
scheme of the
magazine.
12. Masthead Like the other two examples
that we have gone over, the
masthead is, once again, one of
the most prevalent and
distinguishable features, and
catches the consumer’s eye
relatively easily.
13. Main Cover Story
This gives the consumer
some form of insight into
the main story of this
issue of the magazine,
that will encourage them
to purchase it. This is
usually smaller than the
masthead, however
slightly more
distinguishable than the
taglines, implying
significance.
14. Taglines
These are more
snippets or
teasers of things
that this issue has
to offer, that make
it a more valuable
thing to purchase,
in hopes of
increasing the
value of the
product in the
eyes of the reader.
15. Cover Photo
Since the cover photo is
the first thing someone
notices about a
magazine, it is
supposed to attract the
demographic that this
specific magazine is
targeting, in this case
guitarists. So,
obviously, a picture of
someone playing a
guitar might strike the
interests of most guitar
players.
