2. What isVolcanic Eruption?
A volcanic eruption is when lava and
gas is released from a volcano—
sometimes explosively. A Volcano is an
example of a geological process that occurs
around the earth’s surface and is distributed
around the Pacific plate where earthquakes
and volcanoes abound known as the Pacific
Ring of Fire.

Volcanic eruptions may be subtle or explosive and can
produce dangerous lava flows, poisonous gases, and
flying rocks and ash. Many volcanic eruptions are also
accompanied by other natural hazards, such as
earthquakes, landslides, debris flows, flash floods,
fires, and tsunamis. If you live near a volcano, active or
dormant, be prepared to act on short notice.
In this presentation, we will be talking about awareness
and preparedness that show the ways how to deal with
the danger of volcanic eruption.
4. Why is it important to be prepared from the
occurrence of volcanic eruption?
• Being prepared can help us get through events that could have a negative impact
on our lives. It is a method of preparing for what may occur at any given time.
Disaster preparedness helps to alleviate the fear, anxiety, worries, and losses that
accompany disasters.
• Community planning enables neighbors to work together to prepare for
emergencies. Staying safe requires being prepared. It's critical because, in many
cases, lifesaving assistance will not arrive in time during a disaster.
• In the event of disasters, plans and capabilities prepared beforehand are activated.
The improved quality of planning, coordination, and high state of preparedness
has been responsible for more rapid and comprehensive disaster response
capabilities in various areas of the country.

5. There are three parts that everyone needs to be ready
for when a volcanic eruption occurs and it is the process:

After

Before
6. BEFORE
• Make plans for evacuation
• Have your emergency kit ready for evacuation
• Review your place’s evacuation routes
• Gas up your car and charge all devices
• Stay tuned to the local media news or PHIVOLCS alerts and other
emergency management
• Cover windows and door openings inside the house
• Put all machinery and animals in a safe place
• Stay indoors
7. DURING
• Follow evacuation or shelter orders from local authorities
• Evacuate or shelter in place
• Do not drive if there’s too much ashfall
• Stay away from exclusion zones (rivers, downwind)
• Use safety masks, goggles, and other protecting barriers if needed.
• Do not run appliances at home.

8. AFTER
• Stay indoors until local officials say it’s safe to leave
• Send text messages or use social media to reach out to family and
friends
• Assess the damage don’t to your home (take pictures)
• Wear safety protectors such as masks while cleaning
• Remove ashes or volcanic eruption remains from your roof (carefully) if
you have guidance or proper training in cleaning
