Introduction:
For our major project assessment we were given atask to think of a product to advertise, I was going
to advertise LYNX. I was working in a group of 4 and we were gathering information about our brand
we were going to advertise. We took down notes and also took some inspiration and also advertising
techniques like promising a benefit and sex appeal.
In my group there was my self, Kieran, Kiel and Owen and we all decided our roles as a group, I was
the person who brought the props inn, Kiel was the model, Kieran was the organiser and Owen was
the camera guy. We work well together as a group, we also communicated very well with each other
which made our project easier and fun.
We drew the storyboard, on the storyboard there was a step by step on what we were going to do.
There was also imagines which were drew, to show what the scenes would look like and where
things are going to be placed.
When we filmed it there were positives and negatives. The positives were, the sound quality was
really good and the second time we filmed it the camera man did a really good job, howeverthe
negatives which we had when we filmed was the first time we filmed it the quality of the picture was
blurry and the camera shot was all wrong.
In this TV advert we used a variety of advertising techniques. Firstly we used a technique called
promising a benefit, the reason we used this techniques was to show the audience what benefit they
would get if they bought our product which we were advertising. Another advertising technique we
also used was sex appeal, the reason we used this technique was to convince and persuade the
audience in buying our product.
After I finished filming the video I went on Adobe Premier and the editing techniques I used was
video effects, I made the parts of the video black and white, I also add music. Another editing
technique I used was, using titles and also images.
I came up with the idea of my print advert since our advert was based on sex appeal. Since our
product was aimed at men I used a hot womanwho would attract the male audience. I wanted to
show our product with a hot women and I was able to do that in my print picture.
The programme I used to create and edit my print ad was Photoshop.
The advertising techniques I used in my print ad were sex appeal; I used a hot woman in my print ad
the reason for this was to grab my audience’s attention, my audience being males.
I decided to use KFC as a product to advertise for my radio commercial, the reason I pick KFC was
because it was something I really like and also it is a food product and I think they are the easiest to
advertise.

For my radio advert I was allowed to choose any product and after I listen to a couple of over radio
ads I decided on what I was going to advertise, I was going to advertise KFC. After finally deciding on
what to advertise I then started to begin writing a script. When I finally finished my script I then
decided to get two people to do the radio ad for me while I stand next to them with the recorder,
the two people who took part in my radio ad was Kiel and kallum. After I pick two people to do my
radio ad, we then went around the college to look for a quiet place and eventually we found one
which was perfect. The next thing we did after finding a location was deciding who was going to say
what, Kiel did the KFC person and kallum did the customer. We then started to record and during the
recording we got one interruption but that did not affect the recording because we had the recorder
on pause. Apart from that everything went smoothly. When the radio ad was recorded, I then went
back to my computer and export it to my computer. When I put my recording on my computer I then
opened REAPER and put my recording on there. Once all that was done I started to edit my radio ad
recording, I didn’t do much editing, however I changed the pitch of one voice at the beginning and at
the end I did a terms and conditions type of thing and speeded up the voice like they do In really
radio ads.
When I finished my radio commercial I used some advertising techniques. One of the techniques
were price appeal, the reason I used this technique was to show the audience that they could get my
product for a real good and cheap price.
During this whole process I have learnt what advertising techniques there are and also how over
advertisements use them. I have also learnt how to use REAPER, Photoshop and Adobe premiere,
being able to learn about this software’s made me able to improve my work because I could edit all
of my recordings. The final thing I learnt about during this process is the different types of camera
shots.
At first I didn’t know how to use REAPER or Adobe Premier, so therefore it was difficult to edit my
work; however I got a quick tutorial from my tutor so eventually I knew how to use both software’s
which help me complete my work.
If I had to do the project again the one thing I would do differently is come in a lot more often. This
would help me do better
