INTRODUCTION
 Li-Fi means Light Fidelity
 Li-Fi is fast and cheap optical version of Wi-Fi
 Li-Fi is based on Visible Light Communication
 Li-Fi is a technology that uses Light emitting Diodes
to transfer data wirelessly

The main objective of this presentation is to provide an efficient, low cost, secure,
digitally controlled and fast data transfer technique which can be used as an alternative
for conventional data transfer technique Wi-Fi

 Professor Harald Haas, from the University Of
Edinburgh is widely recognized as the founder of Li-Fi
 The D-Light project at Edinburgh’s institute was
funded from January 2010 to January 2012
 Research has been going in Korea, Russia and other
developing countries from 1990’s

HThe Li-Fi product consists of 4 primary sub assemblies
 Bulb
 RF power amplifier circuit(PA)
 Printed circuit board(PCB)
 Enclosure

WORKING OF LIFI

 Data is fed into an led light bulb which is fitted
with signal processing technology
 The led bulb pulses the data at a high non-visible
rate to the photo detector
 The pulses are interpreted by the receiver into an
electrical signal, the binary data is actually the
electronic signal which is the web content we
consume

OVERCOMING WIFI ISSUES
Li-Fi transmits data with the help of Led bulbs while Wi-Fi uses radio waves with wifi router. The followings are

MODULATION TECHNIQUES
 Single Carrier Modulation techniques are straightforward to
be used in Li-Fi, however, Computationally Complex
Equalization Process are required in frequency selective Li-Fi
channels
 OFDM is based on Fast Fourier Transformation for which
every Computational effective Digital Signal Processing
implementations exists

 Serves as connector to external link DSL
 Covers a radius of about 20 meters
 The transmission speed is <100 MBPS

 The possibilities are numerous and can be explored further
 If this technology can be put into practical use every bulb can be used something like Wi-Fi
hotspot
 We will proceed towards the cleaner, greener and brighter future
 This may solve issues such as the shortage of Radio-Frequency bandwidth
 Allows internet where traditional radio based wireless isn’t allowed
