DearFriends,
Arjuna, the great warrior of Mahabharata
is my passionate hero. Arjuna has many
names like Phaalguna, Jishnu, Kiriti,
Shwetvaahana Vibhatsu, Vijaya, Paartha,
Savyashachee and Dhananjaya. Each name
either denotes his quality or is linked to his
achievements. Many interesting stories are also part of the
folklore on Arjuna, like the story where he focuses on
nothing but the bird’s eye while aiming an arrow at the bird,
or the one on Draupadi’s Swayamvara ‐ all of them are
evergreenandhavebeenheardmanytimesinone’slife.
Arjuna is an obedient son, a favourite student, a loyal
brother and lovable husband. In my esteem, his was a
balancedlife,bothmaterialandspiritual.
This great character of Treta Yuga has been reinvented by
my friend, Prof. Debashis Chatterjee in his book “Invincible
Arjuna”. Prof. Chatterjee has conducted leadership classes
at Harvard University and at the Indian Institute of
Management (IIM) in Kolkata, Lucknow and Kozhikode for
over two decades. Presently, Prof. Chatterjee serves as
DeanandProfessoratIIM,Lucknow.
Prof. Chatterjee has authored seventeen
books including “Timeless Leadership: 18
Sutras” from the Bhagavad Gita. In
“Invincible Arjuna”, he describes the
qualities of a leader, illustrating Arjuna.
Being a professional and a Leadership
Guru, Prof. Chatterjee knows the art of
teaching leadership through depiction of the life story of
Arjuna. Let me illustrate a few lines that touched my heart
from “InvincibleArjuna”.
“Indra gave Arjuna the gift of being born as a hero, Krishna
teaches Arjuna the art of dying as a hero. The hero fights
not to avoid death but to live a full life, Arjuna does not want
to be saved, he wants to be used in the service of others.
Whenagrainofcornfallsontheearthanddecidestoremain
a grain, its identity as a grain is lost over time. Yet, when the
same grain decides to sacrifice itself to the soil, the grain
becomes a seed and bears much
fruit. From one grain of corn are
born millions of grains that
make our earth prosperous.

“Mastery is more than the co‐
ordination of muscle and bone.
It is about bringing the whole of
us to what we do. Think of
someonewhoisinspired. Ifheis
anarcherlikeArjunaorarifleshooter,canheclaimthatonly
his eyes and hands are inspired? What about the rest of the
body? Inspiration is about bringing the whole body into a
state of heightened energy. The heart, the hands, the
muscles and the mind, all come together in one
synchronizedstep.”
“A hero has to travel the path of success twice: first in his
mind and then in the real world. Whatever happens to us in
the outer world of appearances begins in our mind. The
herocraftshissuccessstorybyshapinghismind.”
In toto, I can say Prof. Chatterjee has used the stories of
Arjuna from Mahabharata, leadership lessons from his
decades of experience and Vedanta that he learnt from his
Guru Swami Dayananda Saraswati to recreate his own
Arjuna. This is a hugely inspiring book for students,
executives, business magnates; indeed for everyone, as we
can all learn from this great hero ‐ a timeless icon of
Bharatha.
We have also covered a detailed article on various Energy

Prof. R. Rajanna, Registrar UoM, inaugurated the event. Our
own Dr. B.R.Pai was the Chief Guest. Dr. Ramesh Gandhi
University Librarian presided. Dr. S. Venkatesh Dept of
Philosophy was present among a distinguished gathering that
included the staff and students. Dr. Raghavendra Pai of

When Kaliji demonstrated TriYoga and hasta mudras, it was
obvious that the divine energy was coursing through her
veins. Her movements were one with the flow and
spontaneous,justlikearivermeanderingdownstream.
Dr. Pai, in his remarks, mentioned his association with Yogini
for nearly 30 years. It seemed as if Yogini was an embodiment
