play important role in the expanding the business of airlines world widely. Global
distribution system work as a mediator between travel agencies and airlines reservation.
A global distribution system is a computerized network system owned or operated by a
company that enables transactions between travel industry service providers, mainly
airlines, hotels, car rental companies, and travel agencies. The GDS mainly uses real-time
inventory (for e.g. number of hotel rooms available, number of flight seats available, or
number of cars available) to service providers. Travel Agencies traditionally relied on
GDS for services, products & rates in order to provision travel-related services to the end
consumers. Thus, a GDS can link services, rates and bookings consolidating products and
services across all three travel sectors i.e., airline reservations, hotel reservations, car
rentals. In global there are mainly three GDS used by the travel agents i.e. Sabre, Galileo
and Amadeus. A Global Distribution System, or GDS, is a computer reservation system
(CRS) that accesses and interacts with reservation systems and databases around the
world across different travel industry branches and of different companies to facilitate the
ease of booking by travelers, travel agents, and travel websites.

services. The service was extended to America online in the 1990s. (wikipedia, 2018)

“SABRE”. Sabre Holdings three business units, Sabre Travel Network, Sabre Airlines
Solutions and Sabre Hospitality, today serves as the global travel technology company.

CHAPTER FIVE
CONCLUSION
5.1 Conclusion
An internship course of BTTM has its own significance, which makes the students to
complete graduation in real world exposures of theoretical knowledge. Internship
provides the opportunity to of getting the practical knowledge and observing the real
application of theoretical aspects. Internship has helped to explore the fundamentals of
Global Distribution system i.e. Sabre System.
The six months internship program has been very useful and fruitful. It helps to expand
and strengthen my knowledge and skills. It provides me an opportunities to be familiar
with the real working environment. The internship was carried out in Sabre travel
Network Nepal which was mainly focused on learning practical work especially about
GDS software and the process of functioning. Doing internship in such leading company
is a matter of pride and it was great opportunity for the intern to learn about the function
of the organization. Throughout the internship, intern got an opportunity to work in Sales
department, Customer care department and IT department at Sabre not only helped in
learning the Sabre GDS system but also about dealing with the peoples and giving
training.
Coordination and integration is the most important factor, it may be in same department
or may be in different department also. All the divided department are interlink,
interconnected and interdependent with each other. If there is no team effort the work
will be stuck in some point and never finished, that leads difficulties to achieve
organizational goals.
As per the market analysis of all GDS system Sabre is one of the major market holding
company which provides various product besides ticketing software like accounting
software. To hold that market the organization should value the travel agencies needs and
solve the problem as soon as possible. The makes to retain the existing customer and
maintain good relation with them. The sales team member try to find out the problems
regarding the sabre system in travel agencies while visiting and from their feedback
19. 19
organization try to provide convenient services. These are the things that I observed while
doing internship is Sabre Travel Network Nepal.
5.2 Recommendation to the Organization
Though Sabre Travel Network is most market occupied Global Distribution Systems of
the world. During my internship I found out several major problems relating to different
things on Sabre Nepal. So, I have come up with following recommendation:
a) It takes time for the new travel agency who want to use the system, the consumption
time duration is around 2 weeks. Thus the distribution should be fast for the new
travel agents.
b) The telephone connection is disturbed in specific time. So, the telephone connection
should be properly maintained and check in the particular time period.
c) Sometimes travel agents are not familiar with special fare provided by the airlines
need to regulate the information in understandable manner.
d) Training should be conduct for more than six days, the time period of the training is
not enough to make the travel agent familiar with the system to use.
e) Office equipment like laptop and scanner are not working properly. So, old
equipment should be replaced by the new one.
f) The sales report is not distributes to the travel agent in last of the month. So, sales
report should be distribute in the first day of the new month.
g) Internship students should be properly paid that they are able to adjust expenses.
5.3 Recommendation to the College
Some of the recommendation to be given to the Nepal College of Travel and Tourism
are:-
a) Internship should be organized in that way that intern student should be paid properly
that they are able to manage their daily expenses.
b) International internship should be organized rather than hotels.
