What is tourism?
Tourism is the temporary, short-term movement of the people to
destinations for any purpose outside the places where they normally live
and work.
Travel and tourism one of the world's largest foreign exchange earner
among industries, provides employment directly to millions of people
worldwide and indirectly through many associated service industries. A
very wide industry, it includes Government tourism departments,
Immigration and customs services, travel agencies, airlines, tour
operators, hotels etc and many associated service industries such as
airline catering or laundry services, Guides, Interpreters, Tourism
promotion and sales etc. Travel and Tourism enterprises include major
internationals with a workforce of thousands, to the small private travel
agent with a handful of employees.
In India, Travel and tourism, as an industry, has been somewhat slower
to take off than in many other places. However, with increasing
worldwide interest in travel, and with the Government's encouragement
of its activities, it is undergoing massive expansion and improvement.
This forecasts a bright future for all those who choose to make
a career of travel and tourism. Young people with drive and a capacity
for hard work can rise to top positions very quickly in travel and tourism
or even head their own agencies. A job in the industry gives good
returns as well as perks including opportunity to see many locales at low
prices.
Why travel tourism in India
The travel, tourism and hospitality industry today is a very dynamic and
booming work sphere with great scope for the use of creativity, imagination
and orientation on a global level. The tourism industry in India is one of the
largest and most profitable industries in the country and contributes
substantially to the foreign exchange earned.
In 2008, four million tourists visited India and spent US$8.9 billion, thus
making India one of the global and most visited tourist destinations. The
increase in tourism in India has created many jobs in a variety of related
sectors, both directly and indirectly. An approximate 20 million people now
work in India’s tourism industry. Indian Tourism is thriving, owing to a
huge surge in both business and leisure travel by foreign and domestic
tourists and is expected to generate approximately US$ 275.5 billion by
2018.
A report published by the Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) says that
the year 2020, tourism in India could add another Rs. 8, 50,000 crores to the
GDP. India has still not realized its full potential from tourism. The travel
and tourism industry holds tremendous potential for India’s economy. It can
provide impetus to other industries and create millions of new jobs.

travel industry .
 History of company
Make my trip is first founder in India of online
travel company. It was launched in the US market
in the year 2000. Make my trip was founded by Deep Karla an
alumnus of IIM Ahmadabad. Make my trip started it’s Indian
operation in September 2005.They have headquarter in gurugram
haryana . They have office in 23 cities across in India and 4
international office in New York, Sydney, Singapore, San
Francisco.
In 2011 the company created several travel related app for all
type of mobile devices .In September 2014 Make my trip $ 15
million installed
Innovation fund to support early stage. In April 2015 company
create a own travel website that is www.makemytrip.com The
company product booking flight, hotel, holidays package ,train
tickets,
Bus, car etc. The number of employees in 2017-2018
3051 include in company.

Make My Trip offers flight tickets, rail and bus tickets, cab service and
hotel booking services on its portal. In 2012, Make My Trip launched
travel mobile application for Windows Phone, iPhone, Android, and
Blackberry devices. Make My Trip route planner provides all the basic
required information on more than 1 million routes in India.

 14 PRINCIPLES OF MANAGEMENT (FAYOL)
1. DIVISION OF WORK
In practice, employees are specialized in different areas and they have
different skills. Different levels of expertise can be distinguished within
the knowledge areas (from generalist to specialist). Personal and
professional developments support this. According to Henri
Fayol specialization promotes efficiency of the workforce and increases
productivity. In addition, the specialization of the workforce increases
their accuracy and speed. This management principle of the 14
principles of management is applicable to both technical and managerial
activities.
2. AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY
In order to get things done in an organization, management has the
authority to give orders to the employees. Of course with this authority
comes responsibility. According to Henri Fayol, the accompanying
power or authority gives the management the right to give orders to the
subordinates. The responsibility can be traced back from performance
and it is therefore necessary to make agreements about this. In other
words, authority and responsibility go together and they are two sides of
the same coin.
3.DISCIPLINE
It is one of the core values in MMT systems
Good behavior and civilized interaction make the management work
smoothly and efficiently
Good conduct by employees also helps them smoothly progress in their
careers.
This management principle is essential and is seen as the oil to make the
engine of an organization run smoothly.
4.UNITY OF COMMAND
An employee received order from one superior i.e. Department head.
In MMT tasks and related responsibilities are not given to the employee
by more than one manager.
In department of MMT there is department head or Manager who looks
over particular department and give command to their subordinator.
5.UNITY OF DIRECTION
Each group of MMT having one objectives should be unified by having
one plan and one head .
The manager is ultimately responsible for this plan and he monitors the
progress of the defined and planned activities.
Focus areas are the efforts made by the employees and coordination.
6. SUBORDINATION OF INDIVIDUAL INTEREST
The primary focus of MMT is on the organizational objectives and not
on those of the individual .
There are always all kinds of interests in an organization. In order to
have an organization function well, Henri Fayol indicated that personal
interests are subordinate to the interests of the organization (ethics).
7. REMUNERATION
Remuneration is one component of reward management.
Remuneration is considered the pay Or other compensation provided in
exchange for the services performed. Should be sufficient to keep
employee motivated and productive. Ultimately is about rewarding the
efforts that have been made.
e.g compensation, bonus.
8. THE DEGREE OF CENTRALIZATION
In short they have major decision making power and authority rest in
hand of concentrated group leader. and also concentrated in one area or
level of organisation.
9. SCALAR CHAIN
Scalar chain is the formal line of authority which moves from highest to
lowest rank in a straight line. This chain specifies the route through
which the information is to be communicated to the desired person.
From all of that Foyal introduced the concept of “Gang Plank”.
According to this concept, two executives of the organization of
different department at the same level can communicate directly, so that
speedy decision and action could be taken fastly.
10. ORDER
Order, where the employees in an organization must have the right
resources at their distribution, so that they can function properly in an
organization. According to Fayol order is of the view that in every
organization there should be a fixed placed for everything to facilitate
smooth working and avoid wastage of resources.
11. EQUITY
MMT has given respect for all employees and also they have given
everyone respect with whom we interact and consideration.
Employees are be in the right place in the MMT to do things right.
Managers are supervise and monitor this process and they have treat
employees fairly and impartially.
12.STABILITY AND TENURE
In MMT management are offering job security to their employees along
with promise of growth.
Management strives to minimize employee turnover and to have the
right staff in the right place. Focus areas such as frequent change of
position and sufficient development must be managed well.
13. INITIATIVE
MMT have continually apply intelligence, reason and technology to do
work and environment. This allow us to take informed risks & champion
new ideas to improve our business as well as the community.
This encourages the employees to be involved and interested.
14. ESPRIT DE CORPS
MMT must foster an environment wherein we can efficiently utilize the
abilities of all team members to achieve goals.
MMT has can do attitude , not take “no” for an answer and believe that
nothing is impossible.
MARKET SHARE OF ONLINE TRAVEL AGENCY
Tourism in India is important for the country’s Economy and is
growing rapidly. The world travel & tourism council calculated that tourism
generated Rs. 15.24 Lakh cr and 9.4% of India’s GDP in 2017 and 8% of its
employment.

offers like international and domestic Air Tickets, Holiday Packages, Hotels,

innovation and techniques and from that they generated 15.24 lakh or

There are always all kinds of interests in an organization. In order to have an organization function well, Henri Fayol indicated that personal interests are subordinate to the interests of the organization (ethics). 7. REMUNERATION Remuneration is one component of reward management. Remuneration is considered the pay Or other compensation provided in exchange for the services performed. Should be sufficient to keep employee motivated and productive. Ultimately is about rewarding the efforts that have been made. e.g compensation, bonus. 8. THE DEGREE OF CENTRALIZATION In short they have major decision making power and authority rest in hand of concentrated group leader. and also concentrated in one area or level of organisation.
  • 8. 9. SCALAR CHAIN Scalar chain is the formal line of authority which moves from highest to lowest rank in a straight line. This chain specifies the route through which the information is to be communicated to the desired person. From all of that Foyal introduced the concept of “Gang Plank”. According to this concept, two executives of the organization of different department at the same level can communicate directly, so that speedy decision and action could be taken fastly. 10. ORDER Order, where the employees in an organization must have the right resources at their distribution, so that they can function properly in an organization. According to Fayol order is of the view that in every organization there should be a fixed placed for everything to facilitate smooth working and avoid wastage of resources. 11. EQUITY MMT has given respect for all employees and also they have given everyone respect with whom we interact and consideration. Employees are be in the right place in the MMT to do things right. Managers are supervise and monitor this process and they have treat employees fairly and impartially.
