INTRODUCTION
Travel and tourism is the fastest growing industry in the world today. It has become a
large giant in terms of employment, investment, output and value. The great Tourism
phenomenon as we witness today is a result of great waves of technology which have changed
the social geography of the world since the late century. The rapid development in the means of
transport and communication as made the whole world particularly one neighborhood and has
made travel an easy affair. Today millions of people seem to enjoy the prospect of moving
from one continent to another in a matter of hours.
Tourism is one of the worldā€™s most rapidly growing industries. Tourism is unique. It
involves industry without smoke, integration without legislation & diplomacy without
formality. In India, the growth promises to turn into a virtual boom by the beginning of the next
century. The growing ranks of international leisure travelers are being further swelled by
business travelers who are being flooding into India as a result of economic liberalization.
International travel companies, hotel chains, and related business are looking at India with new
eyes, scouting for ways to precipitate in these new opportunities.

ABOUT THE REPORT
This report is as part of Tourism Industry Study for the fulfillment of the award of post
graduate diploma in Tourism and Travel Management ,Indian Institute Of Tourism And Travel
Management.
Tourism Industry Study means the training inside an organization.It is for satisfying the
following objectives. To familiarize the students with an organization structure and itā€™s
functioning. To familiarize them with the different departments in the organization and their
functions and activities including documentation .To understand how the key business are
carried out in an organization. Understand how information is used in organization for decision
making at various levels .Understand extend of technology adoption. Understand the growth
and diversification strategies, and portfolio structure of the organization. To study the overall
performance of the organization including financial performance of the organization by doing
financial analysis.To understand the various tools/concepts/techniques. To understand the
performance measurements of employees and various employee welfare activities, Training
activities. To understand the steps taken to increase the productivity in the organization.
The Tourism Industry Study is to familiarize ourselves with the working of various
departments of an organization for a specific period ,so that one can relate theory with
practice. It helps to understand how the key business processes are carried out in an
organization and how information is used in organization for decision making at various
levels. By the Tourism Industry Study in Arabian Nights Tours, I got an idea about the Tour
Operations in Arabian Nights Tours. I knew about what are the steps taken for handling a tour
package. Identified the different types of tour packages.
I knew about the service provided by Arabian Nights Tours. I understood the financial
position of the company. I got appropriate exposure and experience in a tour operating
Industry. I familiarize with a business organization. I understood organizational hierarchy. I
studied organization structure and inter-relations among different departments. I understood the
functioning and working of a tour package operation.

OBJECTIVES
As part of the academic exercises of MBA Tourism and Travel, it is necessary to
undergo a two month Tourism Industry Study in a tour operation company. The objectives of
this report are mentioned below.
ā€¢ To know what is a tour operation company is?
ā€¢ To study the working atmosphere of a tour operation company.
ā€¢ To study the policies & procedures in a tour operation company.
ā€¢ To familiar with documentation process & its legal formalities.
ā€¢ To study about domestic & international travels.
ā€¢ To get exposure to the various modes of the functioning of tour operation company.

DESCRIPTION OF
THE FUNCTIONS
Opration Section:
The main function of a Operation section is to make on the bookings
done by the sales executives to avoid last minute problems. If we donā€™t
sent the booking confirmation details to the hotels, there may be a
chance to remove the booking without any information. This department
avoids this problem. After the reconfirmation the department has the
responsibility to transfer the current file to the transportation
department.
Sales Section:
This section done the major activity in a tour operation company. They
have the direct contact with the Travel Agent. They are convincing the
Travel Agent to buy the package. This section aims to achieve the
maximum sales in year and them responsible for the room bookings and
Agent complaints. Sales department seeks a good number of human
resources.
Transportation Section:
Transportation section provides the vehicles for the bookings done by the
sales executives. And they have the responsibility to provide maximum
comfortable transportation modes to the guest. They collecting the guest
responses and arranging drop outs and pickups from Airport and Railway
Stations. The department is also having the responsibility to handle the
TURN OVER TOURISM efficiently.

TRAINING SCHEDULE
I did my Tourism Industry Study at Arabian Nights Tours LLC , Delhi . Itā€™s a two months
compulsory training in a tour operation company. I got the opportunity to join in the
Outbound Tour operator of Arabian Nights Tours at the corporate office located at Dubai .
Training started on 22-05-2017 Monday onwards. The work period is 10.30 am to 7.30 pm. All
Saturdays are workdays and no holidays are allowed in the company. At 10.30 am we are
scheduled to report in front of our training coordinator at the office.

MY EXPERIENCE
I joined as Management trainee at Arabian Nights Tours LLC on 22nd
May 2017. At the
training in Arabian Nights Tours , I got an opportunity to identify what all are the significant
roles of human resource in a tour operation company. They helped me to make depth
knowledge about the works done there. ANT mainly focuses on the Outbound tourism and
they had separate branch wise departments to handle it.
A tour package includes accommodation transportation and sightseeing. According to the
customersā€™ requirements and budget they will select the type of accommodation and
transportation. Microsoft outlook is used for the mailing purposes.
THE STEPS OF SALE OF A TOURPACKAGE:
A tour package is selling using the following steps:
I got training under Mr. Rahul Sikarwar working as sales executive of ANT tours and Travels.
First step of the work include, they will receive a query directly from the Agents .the agents
directly asking for 5 nights, 6 days package or more including places and hotels of their
interest or else the executive will directly add those. Then the executive calculate the cost for
this package .They will choose the hotels and they calculate the cost using a cost sheet which
contain cost for all type of rooms and transportation and meal and they add a tax with it.
Special rates are given from the hotel. Then with all the information like name of hotel, place,
type of room, food type and transportation cost they sent a reply to the agent. Meal plan is
mainly of four types. AP-these include all foodsā€¦means breakfast lunch and dinner. MAP-
These include breakfast and lunch or dinner. CP-These include only breakfast.
EP-only accommodation . Customer can make any changes in the packages by sending an
amendment mail before the tour starts. The executives make the changes on it and they
confirm the quotation.

Next step is booking the hotels .Booking mail will be sent to the hotel and will receive a
confirmation mail for the booking from the hotel. Vouchers and payment will do to the hotels
before the guest check in.The executives behave very gently and politely towards the
customers.
Documentation: The next step is documentation. Confirmation mail from the hotels,
confirmed quote, itinerary, vouchers will be filed. Details of hotels, guest name, agent name,
location, transportation provided, arrival details will be written on the file .Date wise files will
be arranged. Details of each and every file will be entered in a register. Before the tour starts
all the files will be reconfirmed.

CONCLUSION
I got an opportunity to learn about each department of Arabian Nights Tours during this
Tourism Industry Study. I also got training on how the company can sell a tour package. It
helps me to understand how the key business processes are carried out in ANT Tours and
how information is used in this organization for decision making at various levels. By the
Tourism Industry Study training in ANT tours and travels I got an idea about the Tour
Operations in ANT . I knew about what are the steps taken for handling a tour package.
Identified the different types of tour packages. I knew about the service provided by
Intersight. I got appropriate exposure and experience in a tour operating Industry. I familiarize
with a business organization. I studied organization structure and inter-relations among
different departments. I understood the functioning and working of a tour package operation.

Threats:
Facing heavy competition makes the company struggle to survive.
Natural calamities is the another main threats for tourism. It would be a main reason for the
destruction of tourist sports.
Introduction of new policies by the government
SUGGESTIONS:
Try to maintain proper communication and follow up regarding booking
It should develop appropriate marketing strategies
Try to develop conferences end conventions during off seasons, it will help the Company to
get more business.
There should be maximum utilization of available resources.

It has become a large giant in terms of employment, investment, output and value. The great Tourism phenomenon as we witness today is a result of great waves of technology which have changed the social geography of the world since the late century. The rapid development in the means of transport and communication as made the whole world particularly one neighborhood and has made travel an easy affair. Today millions of people seem to enjoy the prospect of moving from one continent to another in a matter of hours. Tourism is one of the worldā€™s most rapidly growing industries. Tourism is unique. It involves industry without smoke, integration without legislation & diplomacy without formality. In India, the growth promises to turn into a virtual boom by the beginning of the next century. After the reconfirmation the department has the responsibility to transfer the current file to the transportation department. Sales Section: This section done the major activity in a tour operation company. They have the direct contact with the Travel Agent. They are convincing the Travel Agent to buy the package. This section aims to achieve the maximum sales in year and them responsible for the room bookings and Agent complaints. Sales department seeks a good number of human resources. Transportation Section: Transportation section provides the vehicles for the bookings done by the sales executives. And they have the responsibility to provide maximum comfortable transportation modes to the guest. They collecting the guest responses and arranging drop outs and pickups from Airport and Railway Stations. Itā€™s a two months compulsory training in a tour operation company. I got the opportunity to join in the Outbound Tour operator of Arabian Nights Tours at the corporate office located at Dubai . Training started on 22-05-2017 Monday onwards. The work period is 10.30 am to 7.30 pm. All Saturdays are workdays and no holidays are allowed in the company. At 10.30 am we are scheduled to report in front of our training coordinator at the office.   • 12. Indian Institute of Tourism & Travel Management MY EXPERIENCE I joined as Management trainee at Arabian Nights Tours LLC on 22nd May 2017. At the training in Arabian Nights Tours , I got an opportunity to identify what all are the significant roles of human resource in a tour operation company. They helped me to make depth knowledge about the works done there. ANT mainly focuses on the Outbound tourism and they had separate branch wise departments to handle it. A tour package includes accommodation transportation and sightseeing. According to the customersā€™ requirements and budget they will select the type of accommodation and transportation. Microsoft outlook is used for the mailing purposes. THE STEPS OF SALE OF A TOURPACKAGE: A tour package is selling using the following steps: I got training under Mr. Rahul Sikarwar working as sales executive of ANT tours and Travels. First step of the work include, they will receive a query directly from the Agents .the agents directly asking for 5 nights, 6 days package or more including places and hotels of their interest or else the executive will directly add those. Then the executive calculate the cost for this package .They will choose the hotels and they calculate the cost using a cost sheet which contain cost for all type of rooms and transportation and meal and they add a tax with it. Special rates are given from the hotel. Then with all the information like name of hotel, place, type of room, food type and transportation cost they sent a reply to the agent. Meal plan is mainly of four types. AP-these include all foodsā€¦means breakfast lunch and dinner. MAP- These include breakfast and lunch or dinner. CP-These include only breakfast. EP-only accommodation . Customer can make any changes in the packages by sending an amendment mail before the tour starts. The executives make the changes on it and they confirm the quotation.   • 13. Indian Institute of Tourism & Travel Management Next step is booking the hotels .Booking mail will be sent to the hotel and will receive a confirmation mail for the booking from the hotel. Vouchers and payment will do to the hotels before the guest check in.The executives behave very gently and politely towards the customers. Documentation: The next step is documentation. Confirmation mail from the hotels, confirmed quote, itinerary, vouchers will be filed. Details of hotels, guest name, agent name, location, transportation provided, arrival details will be written on the file .Date wise files will be arranged. Details of each and every file will be entered in a register. Before the tour starts all the files will be reconfirmed. Santosh Chaudhary Page 13

I also got training on how the company can sell a tour package. It helps me to understand how the key business processes are carried out in ANT Tours and how information is used in this organization for decision making at various levels. By the Tourism Industry Study training in ANT tours and travels I got an idea about the Tour Operations in ANT . I knew about what are the steps taken for handling a tour package. Identified the different types of tour packages. I knew about the service provided by Intersight. I got appropriate exposure and experience in a tour operating Industry. I familiarize with a business organization. I studied organization structure and inter-relations among different departments. I understood the functioning and working of a tour package operation. ANALYZING INTERSIGHT TOURS AND TRAVELS ON THE BASIS OF SWOT ANALYSIS: Strength: High quality service ANT are listed as one of the top 10 operators by the Department of Tourism in Dubai.. Strong quality control system Cordial relation between Employers and employees. Creating business tie up with different operators Various tour packages Competition among team motivates employees to work well. Well trained and disciplined employees. Implementation of new promotional tools by government Tie up with different hotels, other tour operators and travel agencies. Market all over India. Threats: Facing heavy competition makes the company struggle to survive. Natural calamities is the another main threats for tourism. It would be a main reason for the destruction of tourist sports. Introduction of new policies by the government SUGGESTIONS: Try to maintain proper communication and follow up regarding booking It should develop appropriate marketing strategies Try to develop conferences end conventions during off seasons, it will help the Company to get more business.
