The government and School Sector Reform Programme (SSRP) pooling donors today signed the amendment of the Joint Financing Arrangement (JFA) on utilizing fund for SSRP extension plan, said a press statement issued here today by the Ministry of Finance (MoF).

The government and School Sector Reform Programme (SSRP) pooling donors today signed the
amendment of the Joint Financing Arrangement (JFA) on utilizing fund for SSRP extension plan,
said a press statement issued here today by the Ministry of Finance (MoF).
Currently, a group of eight development partners, namely UNICEF, European Union, JICA,
ADB, Australia, Finland, Norway and the World Bank comprise the SSRP pooling donors. It
stated that JFA was signed with development partners in August 2009 as guiding framework for
channeling grant assistance to SSRP.
It said, “SSRP has its objective of improving literacy for all in general and the deprived
community in particular and ensuring free and compulsory basic education as well as quality
education.”
It further said this programme was originally scheduled to complete in 2013/14. However,
considering its importance, the Nepal government decided to extend the project implementation
period by another two years with its pre-stated goal and strategies.
Ministry of Education (MoE) is implementing SSRP. According to the statement, the amendment
of the JFA was signed jointly by Suman Prasad Sharma, secretary, MoF and the Heads of four
SSRP pooling donors namely UNICEF, EU, ADB and Finland, on behalf of their respective
institutions.
