3. • Learning Management System (or LMS) is a broad
term used to describe software tools designed to
manage user learning interventions and provide
access to online learning services for students,
teacher, and administrator.
• A software system, that allows the development and
delivery of educational courses using the Internet as a
delivery system.
• Learning management systems (LMS) also
sometimes known as Course management systems
(CMS) have come a long way since those early days.

WebCT: a proprietary company providing hosting
or software for some universities.
 Blackboard : Popular learning software provider
and ASP portal for education.
Moodle : a free, Open Source software package,
to help educators create effective online learning

• Time required to install necessary hardware,
software, course and database.

REPOSITORY (LOR)

9. •A learning object repository is an online library
for storing,managing and sharing your learning
resources.
•A learning object can be quiz,a presentation,an
image, a video,or any other kind or document or
file you use to create course content and learning
materials for online learning

10. •You can classify learning objects according
to defined learning standards or goals
•When you publish your learning object to
learning repository, you tag those objects
with metadata to classify and organize your
learning objects and make them easily
searchable for others

11. • The learning object repositories must meet the needs
of insructors, designers, and learners. They are the
first and most important charecteristic in this
selection.
• Learning objects should be able to be easily accessed
at the exact moment that the design need or learning
activity calls for it.
• Content compatibility is another critical
characteristic.repositories created for specific topic
areas or disciplines shoulb be matched with that
content.
