ESTABLISH CLASSROOM NORMS FOR BEHAVIOUR:
RULES AND PROCEDURES
CLASSROOM NORMS
Class norms are the behavioural expectations or rules of the class. Class norms inform us how we are
expected to behave towards each other and towards the materials we use in school. Students who are
partners in composing class norms are more likely to experience a level of ownership, participate in
instruction, and engage in mutually respectful and cooperative relationships. In addition, students and
instructional team members jointly developing and implementing norms shifts some of the responsibility
for supporting and encouraging socially appropriate interactions from the teacher to the students.
CLASSROOM RULES
DEFINATION:
Classroom rules are the basic expectations for the students behaviour in the classroom.
SANCTIONS:
Classroom rules are the sanctions Initiated by the Teacher with concept of the student in order to run the
classroom activities to achieve predetermined goals or objectives.
ESTABLISHING RULES OF CLASSROOM
1. Keep the number of rules two or Minimum. It can be range from 5 To 10 rules.
2. Keep the wording of rules simple.
3. Keep the wording Positive if Possible.
4. Make the Rules specific.
5.Treat your Classmates with Respect
6. Treat the Teacher with Respect.
7. Respect others' personal belongings.
8. Participate actively.
9. Complete your assignments and tasks.
10. Follow the directions and rules for each game or activity.

ESTABLISHING PROCEDURES FOR CLASSROOM
1. ENTERING THE ROOM:
• Enter quietly and politely.
• Don’t Interrupt other Students.
2. CARING FOR SUPPLIES :
• Share group supplies; take care of group supplies For Example recap marker or glue.
• Check the numbers written on supplies to make sure they belong to your group.
ESTABLISHING PROCEDURE FOR CLASSROOM
• 3. THROWING AWAY TRASH:
• You may throw trash whenever you need to.
• Make sure all trash land in the Can; Pick up trash if isn’t yours.
4. TURNING IN LOST ITEMS:
• Ask the people around you if they lost the item you found ;If not, Write your name and the date on a
slip and tape the item to it. You can put the item in the Lost and Found box.
ESTABLISHING PROCEDURES FOR CLASSROOM
5. SIGNNALS FOR ATTENTION:
• If I need your attention, I will produce any sound or clap my hands; as soon as you hear the signals,
stop what are you doing, look at me, and listen for directions.
6. ENDING THE DAY:
• Clean off your desk; leave out your work notebook; pick up any trash within your desk; stack your
chair; wait quietly to be dismissed.
