Fluctuations from year to year due to individual improvement

Approximately 40 to 50 swimmers from 30-35 Clubs
Selection based on time standards, National and International Ranks
Fairly homogeneous group without fluctuation within Olympic Cycle
Two years before Olympics “Shadow Team” selected for promotional purpose
NPD in charge assisted by National Coach
National Team Selection for International Championships
Selection based on a complex set of rules/times and places
achieved at relevant German Championships
NPD is solely responsible for selection of all teams
