• All students would most probably have had to apologize at some point in their
career, whether it was for being late or making a mistake. For this role play,
the students should think of a situation where they needed to apologize but
could not find the suitable words. Tell them to explain the situation they
experienced to the class and then, encourage them to practice how they
would handle that particular situation if it occurred again.
• Giving the students an opportunity to share real life situations, will lead to a
discussion and swapping of stories, which is great for the practical application
of different apologizing and responding phrases.
• You may also write different situations or problems on the board and have
your class come up with a unique apology for each scenario.
