Project # 1: Project Master
Environment: DataStage7.5, UNIX, Control-M, SQL SERVER 2005
Integrated Management Information System project is to source 85 customers and
cost center and reference data, which would be processed from staging tables till
reporting tables. The main objective is to provide the bank with a reconciled financial
database held at customer level and cost center level. This will enable the banks
performance to be reported and better analyzed at business, product, business unit
and customer segment at all levels within the management chain.
Master Phase-0: To source data strategically from Retail Data processing, one of the
biggest data sources, which contributes around 60% of data for the project.
Master Phase-1: Improve the IMIS processing cycle and Automate the Manual tasks
carried out by IMIS operations wherever applicable.
Master Phase-2: Gather requirements for customer, and branch level reports both at
summary and detail.
Master Phase-3: Build the code using Datastage PX and control M to process the
manual adjustment feeds into core tables and then to reporting tables.
Master Phase-4: Demising the existing system.
Contribution
As a team member, I was Involved in the following:
● Involved Extracting, Transforming and Loading data from different databases
like SQL SERVER, Flat files and placing it into Data warehouse.
INTERNAL
● Involved in writing technical specifications, and analyzing Functional
Specifications.
● Developed data stage jobs between source systems and warehouse
components.
● Developed standard and reusable Shared Containers using various Stages.
● Tuned Data Stage jobs for better performance.
● Involved Unit Test Cases.
Project #2: LMP (Liquidity Management Programme –SQL)
Environment: SSIS, SSRS, and SQL server 2005/2008, Datastage8.1. Finarch
Financial Studio
Liquidity is the ability to meet expected and unexpected demands for cash through
ongoing cash flow or the sale of an asset at fair market value.
Liquidity risk is the risk that at some time an entity will not have enough cash or
liquid assets to meet its cash obligations.
In business, economics or investment, market liquidity is an asset's ability to be sold
without causing a significant movement in the price and with minimum loss of value.
An act of exchange of a less liquid asset with a more liquid asset is called liquidation.
Liquidity also refers both to a business's ability to meet its payment obligations, in
terms of possessing sufficient liquid assets, and to such assets themselves.
In banking, liquidity is the ability to meet obligations when they come due without
incurring unacceptable losses. Managing liquidity is a daily process requiring bankers
to monitor and project cash flows to ensure adequate liquidity is maintained.
Maintaining a balance between short-term assets and short-term liabilities is critical.
For an individual bank, clients' deposits are its primary liabilities (in the sense that
the bank is meant to give back all client deposits on demand), whereas reserves and
loans are its primary assets (in the sense that these loans are owed to the bank, not
by the bank
Contribution
As a team member, I was Involved in the following:
● Continuous involvement in LMP releases.
● Experience of undertaking UAT cycles and successfully involved in 5 release
cycles.
● Good Knowledge on PL/SQL code and developed Batch and performed more
than 20 UAT batch cycles.
● Involved in design discussions for few prominent tasks like Reference data
automation, Data fixes
● Used PL/SQL procedures and package for data load of the project and
implemented various transformations.
● Created various scheduled jobs
● Extensive usage of Activity monitor for monitoring jobs
● Applied various techniques to improve the performance of the system by
implementing indexes
INTERNAL
● Acted SPOC for MKS (code repository tool) & QC for ensuring all the quality
requirements for every release cycle.
● Worked on Ware house batch and data-mart in UK-Data Warehouse.
● Experience in writing complex SQL queries involving multiple tables inner and
outer joins.
● Experience in optimizing the queries by creating various clustered, non-
clustered indexes and indexed views.
● Experience in Creating Tables, Views, Triggers, Stored Procedures, User
Defined Functions and other T- SQL statements for various applications.
● Design and development of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages
and using various control flow task and data flow transformation
● Knowledge of software development life cycle, database design, RDBMS, data
warehousing.
Independently handled the development and all other phases through to Release in
production
Project #3: GLRS (Group Liquidity Reporting System–Moody Analytics/PL-
SQL)
Environment: SQL SERVER,SSIS,UNIX
The aim of the Group Liquidity Reporting System (GLRS) platform is to provide HSBC
with the capacity to handle stress periods, ensure the assets buffers are managed
properly and the revised liquidity reporting requirements are in line with Regulatory
Requirements. To enable full Group Wide compliance with emerging new Group Asset
& Liability Management (ALM) internal and external regulatory requirements. To
generate a single source of data for both internal and external reporting, and
improve the quality of that data, to enable daily reporting by currency with
demonstrable integrity (reconcilable to the financial statements);
Contribution
As a team member, I was Involved in the following:
● Used PL/SQL procedures and packages for data integration of the project and
implemented various transformations.
●
● Involved in creation of Technical design document as per System
Requirements Specification.
