Northampton, England.
Raised as a Puritan

she was 16.

Anne and her husband had eight

7. John Woodbridge, her brother-in-law, went to
England and had her poems published in
1650,The Tenth Muse Lately Sprung Up in
America.
If it had not been for this, Bradstreet’s poems
may never have been published.
Anne was the first poetess to publish poetry in
England and the United States.
8. Her long poems are reflections and imitations of her
favourite French poet:
Du Bartas (Divine Weeks and Works, 1605)
Her religious poetry Contemplations, which was
regarded as an immortal work by the literary critics of
the 20th century.
Critics have praised Anne Bradstreet's ability to achieve
the delicate balance between praising this world while
also being aware of the next.

10. Anne Bradstreet died on September 16, 1672
in North Andover, Massachusetts at the age of
60 of tuberculosis.
The exact location of her grave is uncertain,
but many historians believe she was buried in
Old Burying Ground,Academic Road and
Osgood Street in North Andover.
