2. THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT
TYPES OF VERBS IN THE
SPANISH LANGUAGE. IN THIS
POWERPOINT, WE WILL LOOK
OVER THE MORE BASIC
CONCEPTS OF VERBS
3. Verb Endings
There are three different types of verb endings:
-AR -ER -IR
In English, a verb that has not yet been conjugated, the infinitive
state, is said with the word “to” before the verb. For instance:
To speak. To eat. To live.
In Spanish, a verb that has not yet been conjugated does not have
the “to” before the verb, although when translated to English it has the
“to”. For example:
Hablar (to speak). Comer (to eat). Vivir (to live)
* Notice the endings of the verbs. Every verb in the Spanish language, in the
infinitive form, will end in AR, ER, or IR
4. Conjugation
Just like in English, before the conjugated verb, there is
a subject or a pronoun.
