2. The Laguna State Polytechnic
University (LSPU) is a state university
in the Province of Laguna, Philippines.
It has four regular campuses located in
three municipalities and a city of the
province; LSPU-Main Campus located
in the capital town of Santa Cruz,
LSPU-Host Campus in Siniloan, LSPU-
San Pablo City Campus, and LSPU-
Los Baños Campus.
Currently, the university also has two
Satellite Campuses; LSPU-Nagcarlan
Satellite Campus, and LSPU-RECS
Complex Satellite Campus in Santa
Cruz, and two International Language
Studies Centers in Thai Nguyen
University, Vietnam, and Changwon
College, South Korea.
3. In the early 2000s, Dr. Ricardo A. Wagan, with the
senior officials of the system, bid for the university
hood of LSPC. The first wave of plans carried out was the
sponsorship of House Bill 5953 by the four congressional
district representatives of the province: Hon. Congressman
Danton Q. Bueser, Representative, 3rd District; Hon.
Congressman Benjamin c. Agarao, Representative, 4th
District; Hon. Congressman Justin Marc SB. Chipeco,
Representative, 2nd District; and Hon. Congresswoman
Uliran T. Joaquin, Representative, 1st District. Hon.
Congressman Benjamin c. Agarao, Representative, 4th
District; Hon. Congressman Justin Marc SB. Chipeco,
Representative, 2nd District; and Hon. Congresswoman

After considerable time of scrutiny in Congress
which began in July 24, 2006 as well as ocular inspection
of the campuses' facilities and programs in August 25,
2005, the bill was finally passed by the House of
Representatives on December 4, 2006 and by the Senate on
February 8, 2007, respectively.
4. The "Act Converting the Laguna State Polytechnic
College in the Province of Laguna into a State University
to be known as the Laguna State Polytechnic University and
Appropriating Funds therefore" also known as Republic Act
9402 was finally approved by Her Excellency, President
Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, on March 22, 2007. The University
Charter Day falls on April 10, 2007, fifteen days after
its publication in two newspapers of general circulation,
e.g. Malaya dated March 24, 2007 and the Daily Mirror on
March 26, 2007.
5. The University shall primarily provide advanced
education, professional, technological and vocational instruction
in agriculture, fisheries, forestry, science, engineering, industrial
technologies, teacher education, medicine, law, arts and
sciences, information technology and other related fields. It shall
also undertake research and extension services, and provide a
progressive leadership in its areas of specialization.
6. A premier university in CALABARZON, offering
academic programs and related services designed to
respond to the requirements of the Philippines and
the global economy, particularly, Asian countries.

7. In view of the above, the University shall strive to implement programs
and projects that shall:
Transmit and disseminate knowledge and skills relevant to emerging
manpower needs;
Discover and disseminate new knowledge/technology needed by a
developing community;
Establish model livelihood projects that will radiate through its service area;
Enhance, preserve, and disseminate national culture and sports;
Provide the disadvantaged members of society with equal opportunities for
advancement;
Produce progressive leaders, professionals, skilled, and semi-skilled manpower
for national development; and

character and the cultivation of virtues.
